Even Lataliate who strongly took the side of the baron was left muddled. Her pupils dilated and her teeth violently crashed against each other. Still, even she couldn't reach a statement in who she should believe at this point.
"W-what are you saying... me, die?!" Lataliate faltered and shouted at the end of her sentence.
She whipped her hear towards the baron and pointed her finger at them, "What were you...!" Lataliate began to be shaken. She couldn't believe where everything was turning. The betrayal she was starting to feel and humiliation she felt, was embarrassing her to a new podium.
"No-! Please don't believe her. My lady my wife has raised you like her daughter how could she-we, even think of harming you!"
"Then explain yourselves!" Lataliated screamed at the top of her lungs, outraged at the audacity they had of lying to her. Although she still couldn't believe they would hurt her, she had an inkling doubt about everyone around her to begin with.
'She hasn't even heard our explanation yet she already believed our stories.' Just from these, you could already tell how little faith she had for the people around her.
"My lord, my lady. Please let me." Elise asked with a soft yet firm voice. The marquess turned his attention from the quarrel Lataliate was about to have with the baron, to Elise who asked for permission.
He gestured for her to start and silenced Lataliate and the baron. "At the beginning of this, the child was about to say where the event all started, right?" Elise glanced at me, and beckoned for me to answer."
"...uhm. It wyas at thwe kwitchen..." (...uhm. It was at the kitchen...) This time I was able to finish my sentence since the baron knew full well what trouble would have happened if he interrupted me when the marquess was willing to listen.
"That's right. In a place where there would've been boxes naturally placed on the floor, and a common setting where the maids would be busy. Wouldn't that be more plausible my lord?"
Elise had her eyes on the marquess with a humble gaze. But instead of saying anything the marquess simple stood quiet making it all the more worrisome, and spine-chilling.
"We're not even certain whether the glass bottle your holding truly does contain Lapallista nectars. Even then we can't entirely be sure if they're the ones who brought it. For all we know the two of you were the ones responsible for your claims."
"My lord, it's true that right now, with what we have only presented, you would be wary of our true intentions," Elise paused for a second before continuing. "But worry not. Because we wouldn't dare deceive you as such. Nor would we present such lacking evidence with strong accusations."
"Up until now my lord I had my suspicions. If you could just let me, I could give you the files needed to support our claims."
'As expected, looks like Elise already had the files prepared but she just needed solid evidence to strengthen her proof. She had the documents and files to prove that the baron had bought them, but there were no items to prove the product. After all, Lapallista trees were just stories told from one to another. They were no better than myths.'
Not long after the marquess nodded, he had guards escort Elise back to her room to retrieve the files and documents back. And during the time Elise was away, the smell of victory was in the air~!
It was also by that reason; I could feel a whole on my head. The baron along with his wife, were glaring daggers at me. 'Ah... what a priceless face!' But I shouldn't get ahead of myself. I shouldn't start celebrating until everything was truly cleared.
And everything isn't over until I secure my life away from this place. Because even if I manage to win against the Baron couples, I still have to prepare my escape from the estate.
