Chapter 1: Making Amends

Ice Cube's POV:

I sat in the shade, under an inanimate tree. I was thinking about making a list of the people I wanted revenge for. Leafy, Pencil, Match, and Book were definitely going on it.. Hm.. Who else? I was so lost in thought I didn't notice the pair of feet standing in front of me.

"What do you want Book?" I say without looking up. She's been walking towards me and then turning around at the last second a lot lately. I guess she finally decided to walk over to-

"I'm... not Book-?" said a very familiar voice.

I look up, and don't really believe who I'm seeing right now.

"Pencil?"

She nodded. "Four freed me today.. and- and I just wanted to know if you wanted to er— be a part of Freesmart again? You'll still be an alternate, but better- basically. I talked to Book about it and she said she'll join if you do."

I slowly think about it. Should I join? More than half of the people I want revenge on is in the alliance.. But maybe I won't have to get revenge on them at all if they prove themselves as 'better objects..' Plus. Pencil was the last object on the voting list Four sent out. They were releasing objects out of the exit since BFB was over. Liy being the first person out, and Pencil being the last. One object was let out every week.

I slowly nod. "Fine. If you can prove to be better than before, then I'll join."

Pencil, for some reason, looked relieved, but surprised at the same time. "Yes! Okay, I'll go tell Book-" Her voice faltered. "Actually, could you come with me? Since she probably won't believe me."

"Sure."

Book's POV:
Should I go talk to her.? Mmmm... wait no. I'll rethink about what I'm going to say.. Arghh-

"WHY CAN'T I GO TALK TO HER LIKE A REGULAR OBJECT!?" I cover my mouth. Whoops. Didn't mean to say that out loud.

Several objects look up from what they're doing and stare at me, but Ice Cube didn't seem to notice. Phew. I wave slowly before stepping behind a tree.

"Hey, Book?"

I was expecting Pin to come, but I only realized that the voice wasn't hers when I started talking.

"Hi Pieeencil."

She looked very confused. "I'm sorry, what?"

"I mean PENCIL. Pencil. Pencil. Penc- Wait, what are you doing here?"

"I wanted to say sorry— about.. what I've done in the past and— well... everything pretty much."

I was shocked. "You— you want to apologize?"

"Yeah- also that uhm... if you wanted to rejoin Freesmart again? You don't have to, but it'll be better if you do."

"You're joking."

"I'm not- I swear."

I was VERY very very very very very very VERY VERY VERY shocked.

"Uh.. Hello? Book?" Pencil was staring at me

I blink. "I'll forgive you. But on the Freesmart thing, I'll join if Ice Cube joins."

She nodded understandably. "Fair enough. I'll tell you if she joins or not." And with that, she walked away.

Did I make the right choice? I hope so.. But the chances of Ice Cube joining is very low, and I maybe kinda want to join Freesmart again. But I also kinda wanna join with Ice Cube in it..

I sighed and leaned my head against the tree, watching some of the former contestants play around and chat with others.
