CHAPTER 13

Charlene's pov

Days went by faster than I thought, and the quantity of marriage proposals was getting bigger. I declined each one of them, I sat in my room early in the morning watching the sun rise and drinking warm coffee when my quiet moment got interrupted by a loud knocking.

"Yes?" I said annoyed, Micheal walked in with an apologetic smile and a letter in his hands. I rolled my eyes again grabbing the paper from him, I opened to read another poetic marriage proposal that I was going to refuse like the other ones.

"Micheal what do you think I should do? What do you think my father would want?" I asked him as I scrunched the paper in hand and threw it away.

"My queen, first of all you are not your father. And second, it's too dangerous to be a queen without a heir. If you die there will be no one to be a successor of your own royal blood" he explained, I sighed and laid back on the chair. All this was giving me a headache, what was I supposed to do?

"I- I'll think about it" I said with a loud sigh, I had to do something else other than thinking about this bullshit, maybe go for a ride on Raven. It's been a while since I've seen her, I quickly changed to much more comfortable clothes and run to the stable. I looked around the shelter until I found Raven sitting in a corner looking at me. I smiled and patted her head, I sat next to her and laid on her side. For some reason being here next to Raven was making me miss Leo, I wish she was still here so we can go ride late at night, the horse seemed to sense my sadness and pushed her head against my leg.

"Let's go for a ride, hm" I said getting up, she got up and I pulled her out of the building. I strapped her saddle to her back then I jumped on her, before I can stop her she took off without a warning almost making me fall. I grabbed onto her for dear life, she was well trained why was she running uncontrollably, I made sure she got out everyday, wasn't it enough?

"Raven! Stop!" I yelled trying to make her stop, the horse only started picking up her speed. I finally pulled on the leash hard making Raven stop. I tried to catch my breath while she started walking slowly sniffing the ground, what was she looking for?

"Hey? What's wrong?" I asked patting her head gently, she huffed curiously at the far bushes. It was probably just a small animal, I smiled and pulled her away and we headed back towards the castle.

I was still confused by Raven's sudden change of behavior, but I tried to brush it off. A guard took Raven back to the castle and I made my way inside, the throne room was lit. It's never lit unless there's a meeting, a meeting with me.
I walked inside confused to find Micheal talking to a tall handsome guy, he had dark hair with a perfectly shaved beard. He was dressed in very fancy clothes with a small royal pin on the left side of his chest.They both noticed my presence and bowed respectfully with a smile.

"My queen" Micheal said stepping closer to me, I was still staring at him suspiciously. He still hasn't said a word, he smiled and cleared his throat.

"Queen Charlene, I am King Frederick. I have sent you many letters for the past few months but I didn't get a reply, so I took a long ride from my castle to come meet you in person" He said his smile still plastered on his face. I looked at Micheal, why did he let a random man who claims to be a king inside my castle for all we know he's an assassin.

"I see no men of yours, 'king' Fredrick" I said walking to my throne, I sat and waited for him to speak.

"If I brought my men with me, your kingdom would think they're under attack. So I came here alone" he explained himself, I nodded my head and glared at Micheal who just avoided my eyes.

"Well King Frederick what is it that you want?" I asked, he smiled and stepped closer to where I was sitting and got on one knee. I looked at him confused,

"I will not force you to marry me my queen, all I want is to be your companion, friends is what I mean. Our kingdoms could help each other, to them it would be a marriage but to us it'll be a marriage of convenience" he said getting up,

"What makes you think we need your help?" I said defensively, he sighed and grabbed my hand gently caressing it.

"Both our kingdoms need help my queen, King Leo has raided my castle before heading here. My people are starving and yours are scared to the bone." I was still staring at his hand that was holding mine with a weird look. He turned to Micheal and asked him to leave. Micheal stayed in his place waiting for my order. I nodded giving him permission and he bowed leaving only the both of us.

"I am also a homosexual" King Frederick said in all seriousness, my eyes widened and I couldn't help but burst out in laughter. But he only stayed silent and stared at me with a serious look.

"Wait. You're serious?" I said when I noticed he didn't say it do anything.

"Well...if I'm being frank Frederick, I think I am as well" I chuckled, his face lit up and he squealed like a girl surprising me completely.

"Sorry, I didn't want to do that in front of your guard" he apologized, I can't just jump into a marriage this quick I'll have to get to know Frederick and then I'll see what I can do. And see if this was the right decision or not.
