"Rimmer"
"Rimsy?"
"RIMMER!"

Rimmer jumped, and looked at his friend with wide eyes "For gods sake Laurie, can't you see I'm trying to study" he looked back at his notes with a sigh and shook his head "uh...yes I can see that, that's why I'm trying to talk to you, come on I'm bored" she said with an exhale, and looked at her friend with a pleading look "Laurie, my Astro navigation exam is tomorrow, and if I can't get this last bit of revision in, I will fail" he said sternly, hoping to put Laurier in her place with of authority, but that rarely ever worked as she could see straight through it "last bit of revision? You mean the only bit of revision, you spent the last few months organising the bloody time table and the last few weeks panicking and rambling about how you were going to fail, which may I remind you I had to listen through" She looked at him annoyed and he returned with the same look "Laurier, I need to study" He looked back at his book one last time and she sighed, letting her head fall against the table with a slight noise "fine" she muttered, she heard him snicker at her behaviour and felt one of his hands ruffle her short hair, she looked back up at him with a small smile before returning to her heads spot on the table.

"Mornin!" Lister practically yelled as he entered the room, much to both Rimmer and Laurier's dismay "Actually Lister, it's passed 12, so it's the afternoon not the morning" Laurier sluggishly lifted her head and looked at her friends bunk mate "hi Lister" she said with a worn out tone "Oh hi Laurier didn't see you there" Laurier scoffed and turned to Rimmer. It wasn't much that Laurier had a problem with Lister, he hadn't really done anything to warrant her disliking him, but something about him just rubbed her the wrong way, and perhaps it was cynical of her to judge someone purely on first impressions but never the less, it was safe to say she wasn't fond of him, and the same could be said for Lister really, he wasn't particularly fond of Laurier either, yet his dislike for her came from the belief that she was 'loud and annoying, and came on a bit too strong' which was ironic considering he was the exact same, in fact, when Rimmer had told her about this, she laughed and said "Good, at least we have one thing in common"

Rimmer let out a grunt of distress and let his book fall into the table, covering his face with his hands "I hate this" he said, although his voice was muffled by his palms, once he slid them down his face and tel them fall onto the table her turned to look at Laurier "you sure you couldn't do a favour for a friend and mess with the answers" he was joking in part, yes he wanted her to but he had to get through this exam on his own without interference, he knew that and had hoped Laurier did too, but just in case he chuckled just to make sure she knew he was kidding, and as she chuckled along with him, he believed she did.

"Shit" she said while jumping out of her seat and grabbing her bag which was later out under her chair "what's up with you?" Lister said begrudgingly giving her the side eye from his bed "McGruder wanted me back at 2, she's got some...party...get together thing and big surprise wants me there because of course she does" Rimmer looked at her with a questionable look on his face and when Laurie was about to leave she met his gaze and sighed "I'll put in a good word for you" The two had had a deal for a while now, ever since McGruder and Rimmer's...encounter, he had asked her as McGruder's bunk mate to talk him up now and again, and let him know if she says anything about him, being too scared to talk to her himself, now he couldn't really offer her anything in return because despite being rather loud and quiet the chatter, she was rather secretive about the people she liked, if she likes anyone at all, no one had heard anything about Laurier getting interests in people, not even Rimmer, so he had promised that if she ever did come to be interested in anyone, he would return the favour.

"Bye Laurie" Rimmer said, watching as she walked out of the room. His and Lister's bunk was silent for a moment before Lister decided to give some heartfelt words of wisdom.
