Chalky's POV
It was just another day. Broomer was sleeping, Clay was in the flower garden, nothing new. Except for one thing. I had a gut feeling something would happen if he didn't tell Latte how I felt. A tornado would come through, a tree would fall on me, just something. Today was the day I let out my emotions. I didn't want anything bad to happen, so I got up, went to my house, and sat on his bed.
How am I gonna tell him? What does he like? What are his interests? I thought and thought and thought. I looked out my window, out of ideas. There popped up one idea. I saw a forest! That's it! We could go hiking and I can tell him that way! It was perfect! I got out of my dark house and ran to Latte, who was by the water in a foldable chair. "H-hey Latte!" I said, waking up to him. I saw him jump and turn towards me, taking his sunglasses off.
"Hey Chalky. Why did you come over here?" Latte asked in his slow, deep, depressing voice. "It's a nice day today! We should take a hike!" I responded, overjoyed even though he hasn't agreed to hike with me. "Chalky. We're going to get lost, I just know it."
"No, we won't! They're called hiking TRAILS for a reason."
We stared at each other for a minute until Latte spoke again.
"Fine, I'll go with you."
That sentence made me happier. I can tell him! Finally! He picked up his chair and told me to wait for him to come back. I did what he told me to do. When he came back, we walked over to the forest which wasn't far at all. When we got to the small forest, we found a trail we both liked and went on. It was silent for a while until I asked Latte anxiously, "Do you have a crush on anyone?" When I asked him, he paused and look at me. "W-why do you care all of a sudden?"
"Well, uh... I was thinking we could maybe... exchange secrets!" I say nervously.
"Alright. Do you want me to go first?" he asks in confusion.
"I'll go first. I-" I say normally.
I was cut off by a rustle in the bushes. "Probably just a small animal," Latte said in a sure voice. I opened my mouth again. "I- Latte, I like y- God, I can't say it," I say nervously.
"It's alright Chalky, I know what you mean. I was gonna say the same thing." Latte says in a serious way.
I was shocked. I had no idea what to say. I felt a type of happiness one can't explain. I ran up to him and hugged him tightly. I felt him put his hands on my shoulders. We heard a voice come from the bush that rustled earlier. It sounded like... Clay? "Hah, gay," he says normally.
