(Narrator's POV)
It was Friday. Which meant it was time for Pearl's Combat Class at Little Homeworld. Today was special, however.
You see, Steven had been attending UA and had gained quite a reputation there. He also won a major tournament, defeating school favorite Izuku Midoriya in the Finals. He also began dating Tsuyu Asui.
So today, in a rematch of that very fight and since the Gems didn't get a chance to see it, the two of them would be going at it again for the Combat Class.
It wouldn't just be them either: Their fellow classmates from Class 1-A as well as Steven's family would be looking on. Particularly Izuku's girlfriend Ochaco Urakaka and Steven's girlfriend Tsuyu Asui. So neither of the young heroes wanted to lose, let alone in front of their respective girlfriends.
As the match began, Tsuyu looked on and smiled. She and Steven had fallen in love and it was easy to tell now that they were a couple. If you were one of the ones who didn't know? Mina Ashido or Amethyst will be happy to talk your ear off about it.
Tsuyu provided a sense of grounding that Steven needed in his life. Someone who will be upfront with him and not sugarcoat anything. Which is something Steven's ex girlfriend Connie Maheswaren sadly never did.
"You and Steven still going out on your date this weekend, Tsu?" Amethyst asked as the match raged on. Izuku was throwing punch after punch that Steven was blocking with his many shield variations.
"Yeah. I'm looking forward to it. He's already met my family and they love him. They approve of the relationship. And since he chose the last date, I'm picking this one." Tsuyu replied as Amethyst chuckled.
"Oh really? And where would that be?" A voice said as Garnet came over and joined the two as Steven sent Izuku back with a punch.
"A nice little dance center where him and I could have some couples dancing sessions. I loved the atmosphere that night when him and I danced at school and I want to do it again." Tsuyu replied as Pearl could be heard telling Steven to stop being cocky as the hybrid was evading Izuku's blows.
"It ain't cockiness if he's backing it up, P!" Amethyst exclaimed as everyone laughed as the match went on.
"Make sure you both send us some pictures." Garnet said as Tsuyu smiled.
"*Ribbit* My family said the same thing. Don't worry, I'll---" Tsuyu began to say until....
"Gahhhh!" Izuku exclaimed as he was sent flying with a shockwave from Steven, sending him into the beach water and making Steven the winner.
"That's how many times now?" Steven asked as he turned back to normal from his Pink form as Pearl shook her head.
"Pride goes before a fall, Steven. I would think you would know that after dealing with me for all these years. Besides, arrogance doesn't look good on you." The Pale Gem said as Tsuyu smiled and walked up to Steven, kissing him on the cheek.
"*Ribbit* Good work, Steven. I'm glad I have such a strong boyfriend." She said as Ochaco shook her head.
"Your boyfriend wins again, Tsu. But he better watch out: At some point, Izuku will get the better of him. Speaking of Izuku, let me go fish him out of the water." She said as she went to the Beach as Izuku was coming out of the water.
Steven and Tsuyu just shook their heads and laughed in reply.
