(Narrator's POV)
Amethyst ran a tube of lipstick across her lips as she got ready for her teaching day at Little Homeworld. And while she was excited about yet another day with her students, what she was most excited about was that none other than Steven would be co teaching with her.
It had been a while since the two had done anything together. Especially since his breakup with Connie. And for some reason, that made Amethyst even more excited that he'd be teaching with her today, though she didn't know why that in particular made her excited.
Coming out her room, Amethyst saw Steven drinking a protein shake as he had just finished eating breakfast. He had put on some muscle over his time away and that made it even stranger on why Connie would ever break up with him. She had no idea what she gave up.
"Morning, Amethyst. Ready to go?" Steven asked as Amethyst blushed a bit. What was going on with her today? Why was Steven making her feel like this? She could only hope that this wasn't an issue during class.
*Later during class*
"So it's always a good thing to experience new things. Even if you have to be away from what you're familiar with for a while." Steven explained to the class as Amethyst, Garnet and Pearl looked on with a smile as the hybrid told a story of one of the many things he experienced during his time away. The class enjoyed listening to him so much that time just seemed to fly by and class was over.
After class was over, Steven looked at the Gems.
"Think they enjoyed hearing me ramble? Sorry to take over like that, Amethyst." He said as Amethyst smiled.
"It's alright, Steven. They really seemed to enjoy listening to you. It was a nice change of pace. Especially since you haven't been here in a while." She said as Steven looked at his phone and sighed.
"What's wrong?" Pearl asked.
"It's from Dad. He and Ms Maheswaren want to talk to me about what happened with Connie. I really don't want to revisit our breakup but this is what I get for not telling them what happened, I guess. I'll be back later." He said as he left.
"You should make your move, Amethyst." Garnet said as Amethyst gasped.
"How did you...? Tch. No. Just no. Steven will think I'm weird or even creepy for having feelings for him. Besides, he's just getting over a breakup and I don't wanna seem like I'm just swooping in..." She replied as Pearl smiled.
"Oh come off it. It's painfully obvious. And honestly, I think it'll be good for you and him to at least try this. Steven needs someone who he knows will be there for him and I can't think of anyone else who's been there for him more than you, Amethyst." She said as Amethyst sighed and went back to the Temple.
*Later...*
"Amethyst? Garnet and Pearl told me that you wanted to talk to me. You OK?" Steven said as he came back home and went up to his room and found Amethyst waiting for him. It was the moment of truth.
"Hey Steven. I wanted to talk to you. Well... actually tell you something." She said as Steven sat next to her. What could be the matter?
"I'm all ears, Amethyst. What's wrong?" He asked as Amethyst sighed and blushed.
"Well...I didn't wanna sound like I was just swooping in after your breakup with Connie. But...I....I have feelings for you. It's weird, I know. And I understand if you don't feel the same but that's...just how I feel." She said as Steven smiled at her and kissed her on the cheek.
"It's not weird at all. Because...I kinda felt the same way. I...just didn't want you to think I was weird for feeling that way about you, Amethyst. You're beautiful. Attractive. Funny. Pretty much the whole package. And...well I don't wanna sound like a pervert so I'll stop while I'm ahead." He said as Amethyst then smiled and blushed before kissing him on the lips as the two shared their first kiss as a couple.
Both of them were relieved they felt the same about each other.
