"So what do you think, Sadie?" Steven asked as he finished playing a tune on his guitar as a way to inspire some new material for Sadie and her band.
"I like it, Steven! Gotta say: Music is in your blood. Well that and your good looks....uh...um..." Sadie said before covering her mouth as Steven gave her a look.
"Huh? What did you say?" He asked as Sadie blushed.
"Um! Nothing. Nothing at all! Except that I like your guitar playing, Steven. I...well I like it a lot." She said as Steven smiled.
"Well I'm glad. Music really helped me bounce back since....uh...well nevermind." Steven said as he stopped himself from finishing as Sadie gave him a look of concern. What had happened? And why did it worry her so much?
Sure, she cared about Steven a lot. But she always thought it was as a brother. Now...she feels like it's beyond that. But why now of all times? Was it because she was still reeling after her breakup with Shep? Was it because Steven had always been someone she cared about regardless of whatever Gem craziness occupied his life?
She still rememberd when his powers went so out of control that they trapped everyone in a barrier. But even then, she was far more worried than anything else. She knew this wasn't Steven. Something was up with him that he wasn't telling anyone.
But what could it be now? What could he be hiding?
"Steven. You know, I care about you, right? If there's something bothering you....please tell me, OK?" Sadie said as Steven sighed.
"Connie broke up with me. Even worse is that she did it through a text message. I don't know why, but all the message said was "I think we should see other people. Our lives are too far apart now for us to be together. Please understand." " Steven said tearfully as Sadie looked upset.
"A text message is the most cowardly way to break up with someone. I honestly thought Connie was better than that, but I guess her and Shep are the same!" She said as Steven looked at her.
"What? Shep broke up with you in the same way? I'm sorry, Sadie." He said as Sadie smiled.
"It's OK. Because...well...maybe I never was meant to be with Shep. Maybe both of us have been looking in the wrong direction. Maybe...the one we've been looking for has been there the whole time. We just were too blind to see them." She said as she moved closer to a now blushing Steven.
"Uh...Sadie? I..." Steven began to say as Sadie moved away a bit, now embarrassed.
"I'm sorry, Steven. I didn't mean to make you..." She began to say until Steven gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"I was about to say: "I feel the same way about you." He said with a smile as Sadie then wrapped her arms around Steven's neck as the two shared a kiss.
The first of much beautiful music that was soon to follow.
