(Narrator's POV)
Steven sighed as he walked out of the classroom with his friends Marco Diaz, Lincoln Loud, Dipper Pines and Finn Mertens as they all headed out to the courtyard where all the students went on break.
"So what's the plan after class? It's the weekend, so the world is our oyster, you know?" Marco said as Steven looked over and saw a group of girls talking:Mabel Pines, Star Butterfly, Pacifica Northwest, Amity Blight and Ronnie Anne Casagrande. All of them were talking and giggling before Star noticed Steven and winked at him, causing him to blush.
"Huh? What's up, Steven? Why you blushing, man?" Finn asked as Marco soon put two and two together as he took one look over at the girls before looking at Steven.
"Ah! I get it. You have a thing for one of them. And if I had to guess.... don't tell me....it's Star, right?" He asked as Steven gave him a look.
"What? Look, Marco. I'm just getting over a breakup. Why invite the chance for more hurt in my life? Let's assume I did have a thing for Star. Hypothetically speaking only. She's a beautiful girl. Smart and strong and funny too. I know what people say about me being the same but I couldn't hold a relationship with Connie without showing her there was something wrong with me to where things ended. I...just don't want to bring Star down. Besides...what would I even say to her...?" He asked, unaware that Star and the other girls had come up behind him.
"Well just between us guys, Steven. Do you have a thing for Star? Do you mean all those good things you just said?" Marco asked as Steven nodded.
"Of course I do. I meant every good thing I said about Star. She's strong, smart, funny.....and she's right behind me, isn't she?" He asked as Lincoln and Finn laughed as Steven slowly turned around, his face red as a beetroot dipped in flames, as he saw Star and the other girls. But to his surprise, Star was blushing as well. Could she...?
"Um....that's really sweet of you to say all of that, Steven. I know we've been friends for years and I....well me and Marco didn't work out. But after you and. Connie broke up, I figured I might have a chance. But I was afraid you might think I was weird or something." She said as Steven smiled in relief.
"Why would I think you're weird? If anything, I thought a girl like you would think I'M weird." He said.
"Say what? Steven, you're an amazing person and talented too! Every good thing you said about me can be said TRIPLE for you! Connie... doesn't know what she gave up. Why..would you even be interested in a crazy girl like me?" Star asked tearfully as Steven smiled and took her hand.
"Because I grew up around crazy. And....well I've grown used to it. Plus you're crazy in a good way." He said as Star kissed him, much to the delight of the others.
"Get a room, you two!" Mabel said with a laugh as she and the others congratulated the new couple.
