Most of us have unhealthy thoughts and emotions that have either developed as a result of trauma or hardships in their childhood, or the way they were raised.

The next morning I found Luke at the coffee shop waiting to get his coffee.
"Good morning!" I greeted him with a smile. He did not deserve my bad mood.
"Morning! Are you feeling better now? How about your ankle?" He greeted me with a huge grin that made my chest tighten.
"A lot better after listening to your advice. Thank you again for last night!"
"That was nothing but don't scare me like that again!" He smiled at me once again and then surprised me by giving me a wink.
Of course, my cheeks heated right away.
After that morning, Luke and I saw each other two times a day. In the morning getting coffee and in the afternoon at the gym.
We got into some sort of routine that I got to like but it was not good for my heart. Because the more I saw him the higher my hopes got.

Two weeks is what it took for me to find a place to move in. All thanks to Melanie who helped me a lot. In fact, I wouldn't have gotten the place without her.
An acquaintance of hers left the studio she was in recently. It's a small studio but has a very good renting price.
I signed the papers right away and spent some of my afternoons cleaning the place.
One week later on a weekend, I had my bags ready to move out. Melanie was kind enough to help me with my luggage.
This entire time my mom didn't speak to me and ignored my existence but she would constantly sigh and throw me disappointed looks.
But when I was finally done with the moving and came back for the last luggage my mom blew up.
I was waiting for that moment to come but I wasn't sure when.
"I'm disappointed in you Sophia. I thought I raised you better. How could you do this to me? I've sacrificed my whole life for you and this is how you repay me?" She shouted those words while crying, making me feel like the worst daughter in the world.
Like I did the most unforgettable betrayal.
Meanwhile, my dad was on the couch looking at the TV but clearly disappointed.
Both of them thought that I betrayed them, that I was abandoning them. While all I wanted was a distance to heal myself.
I have the right to be disappointed too. They were not supporting my decision to leave. My mom had many chances to try and understand my struggles yet she turned all those chances into opportunities to lash at me.
