I got in the mini van and said hi to all of my friends (I know the seniors from a camp we used to go to and we became really good friends. We found out that I was going to be at their high school this year and they flipped out offering rides everyday. I gotta admit, for the last year of high school, they were pretty cheerful.) My best friend, Olivia, was on the way to school so we picked her up last. We had a squeal sesh as she jumped into the car. "OH MY GOD. HIGH SCHOOL!" She yelled. She could be really hyper sometimes. I loved her for it anyway. Normal is boring.
She looked me up and down. "Aspen, really? Still? When are you just going to stand up to your mom and let her know that you want to have your own style?" I groaned. "Olivia, I'm working on that. Hmmm. I just need to bribe her or something." She rolled her eyes at me. What if I wanted my mom to think I was her baby still and she could dress me up? After all, I hated to see her cry (happy tears. Because I'm growing up. It's annoying. Well, that sounds like I'm a bad person, I hate when she cries cuz she's sad, too but-OH YOU GET THE IDEA). "No! Aspen. Listen. Go up to her and tell her how you feel!"
"She's right," I heard Ellie, one of the seniors, say. "You can't let your mom control your life forever. Anyway, we're here." We pulled up at one of those fancy Race Tracs and I got out of the car. "See you in five," I said while walking off. I scooted as quickly as possible to the bathroom. I got changed super fast, worried we would be late and threw my hair up into a simple pony tail. That's more like it, I thought to myself. I walked out of the gas station and looks around. I didn't see their car anywhere. I had Olivia's phone number so I looked in favorites and found her contact. Suddenly I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around and I realized it was one of the jerks/jocks moving up to high school with me (I tried to get creative with the name, but the words are too similar😉). "Hey Aspen. Wanna catch the game tonight?" These boys always flirted with me (probably because I'm the only girl willing to play/watch sports...we have a lot of girly gerks [girly girl jerks] in our grade). I sighed. "I'm just not interested. What I really need to be doing now is finding my friends" I knew I shouldn't have said that, because right after....hmmmm I didn't know his name....lets just call him the Jerkwad. Yeah. Anyway, after that, the Jerkwad smirked and said, "oh? Well I saw them go that way. Yep, they left. But...you can ride in my truck if you want to." I immediately turned around and ran. He ran after me, but I quickly hid in a bush. Owww these are prickly leaves, I thought. I noticed that he was still walking around so I texted Olivia.
Me: Omg where r u? Creepy guys are already hitting on me and I haven't even gotten to school yet.
I waited for what seemed like forever until she finally texted back.
Liv: Oh yeah, sorry I was really hungry so we got some waffles at Waffle House. Saved some for u. We're on our way!
Me: What?! You could've texted me! 9 minutes til school starts...
Liv: ok ok, won't do it again. We're close.
Me: You better be.
That's when they pulled in. Lemme tell you, it smelled GOOD in there. Eh, I just decided to ditch my muffin and banana. What could a waffle once in a while hurt? How's that for an ending? I'm really hungry right now, so those are my motives. Anyway. That was a little bit of a longer chapter. They'll get longer and better, I promise. Just stick around, guys!
Love,
Mere
