Yesterday without Paige took a toll on the team. Today they were doing their separate projects but they all would occasionally glance at the door waiting for Paige and Ralph to pop through it. After about 20 minutes of awkward silence and door glancing, the door finally opened. Walter's heart began to race and his palms began to shake as a smile formed on his face. But it was Cabe not Paige who walked through the door. Cabe looked at Walter as a smile slipped off of his face and asked "Why do you look so disappointed Walter?"
But instead of getting an answer Walter blushed, looked down, and mumbled. The only two things he picked out was "Nevermind..." and "I just don't understand!" Then Walter walked out of the room embarrassed.
"What's his problem?!" Cabe asked.
"Your not Paige." Toby called out from the far end of the garage while quirking his eyebrows.
"What does Paige had to do with anything?" Cabe questions, "You know what I don't want to know... You people confuse me." Cabe finishes as he starts to read a magazine that was on Walter's desk.
Just then the phone rings and Toby, who got up to annoying Happy and pace the room while reading his book on human behavior, answered it.
The phone call was from Paige and she began talking. "Hey Walter, its Paige."
"Actually this is Toby." He corrects.
"Oh-" she sighs.
"Geez Paige, sorry to disappoint."
"No Toby that's not what I meant-" She starts, "Never mind. I just called to say that I can't go into work today I-"
"Sorry Paige," Toby says as he interrupts. Then he pulls the phone away from his ear and calls out into the garage, "Hey Walt I got your girl on the phone!" On the other end of the conversation Paige rolled her eyes but a smile creeped up her face anyway.
"Paige is on the phone?" Walter asks peeking his head out of the kitchen and struggling to keep a straight face.
"Of course, who else would be 'your girl'?" Toby asks faking a look of innocence.
"Shut up Toby, Paige is not anyones girl." Walter states coldly.
"Well not yettttttttttttt......" Toby sings "Not until you grow a pear and ask her out Walter." The entire room goes silent and the team stares at Toby awaiting Walter wrath. He glares at his friend murderously.
From the other end of the phone Paige smiles at everything that is happening at the garage, she wishes she could be there instead she has her own problems. "Can I just talk to Paige?" Walter asks, talking a deep breath and regaining his composure.
"No you Paige hog I'm going to talk to her. Give the rest of us a chance with her." Toby says quirking his eyebrows. "I'm rethinking my priorities, Happy's not very good at flirting." That comment earned Toby a sigh from Walter, a snort of laughter from Sylvester, and an eye roll from Happy. Toby continued,"So Paige let me tell you right here that-"
"Toby let me stop you right there, I really need to talk to Walter about something really important." Paige says sternly, no more time for goofing off, she thinks.
Toby must've heard the seriousness in her voice because he replied a shaky "Ok," and handed the phone over. "She says it's important Walter."
"Got it. Thank you Toby." Walter says with a smug smile on his face.
Everyone in the garage stops to watch Walter and soon the smile slowly slips off his face. The gang can only hear Walter's end of the conversation, and after a long while he says his first words, "Ok Paige, this is not good." He says this very shakily and will not meeting anyones eyes. Following Walter's comment the team guesses that Paige is talking because all they hear is silence. Then Walter talks again, "Paige stay right there, I'll get Cabe, and we'll come down to the courtroom. We can clear all of this up!! I'll be there soon, stay put." More silence. "No please Paige let me help." Even more silence. "I can't just sit here while all of this happens!!! Please Paige, please." Silence. "Fine, just promise to Keep me updated, goodbye Paige."
Walter hangs up and looks down, everyone circles around him looking for answers.
Toby sighs and begins, "Fine if no one else is going to ask, I will. What the heck was that all about!?!"
Walter looks up for the first time and looks sadly at everyone, one at a time. "Drew took Paige to court," Walter begins slowly. "He is fighting for custody of Ralph and the court is so far in his favor."
