"Come on Olivia, I can't tell where the flirting was and where it wasn't?"
"I wasn't flirting with this guy Y/n, we were just chatting!"
"You know, it didn't look like that from the outside."
You stood across from Olivia and looked right at her. You had just returned from your mutual friend's birthday party where Olivia was constantly chatting with the guy she met today.
She was spending more time with him than she was with you, and she was looking at him with that gentle look. The way she used to only look at you. And it pissed you off.
Olivia was a celebrity and so she hung out with a lot of attractive guys and girls but this guy really pissed you off so when Olivia asked what was wrong with you you told her what you thought.
"Y/n, please don't be jealous because nothing happened. You're imagining things in your head."
"I'm not jealous. But you're flirting with other guys. It's... I'm speechless, Olivia. How can you be like that?"
You seemed to be trying to restrain yourself and not say anything particularly hurtful, but tears came to Olivia's eyes and without a word she turned and walked away to the back of the apartment.
You cursed and went down to the first floor. You now lived in a two-story apartment and your bedroom was on the second floor but Olivia was in the bedroom now and you didn't want to go there. You went into the kitchen, grabbed a bag of chips and went into the living room to watch a movie.
You spent some time like that and your emotions subsided when your mother stopped by the room. Busy fighting with Olivia, you forgot she was here. It's just that she and your dad came to visit you this weekend and so they lived in your apartment and you lived with Olivia.
"Had a fight with Olivia?" Asked your mother, coming closer.
"Did you hear everything?"
"Not everything, but a lot. So what happened?"
"Mom, I'm not a little girl, I can figure out my own love life" you muttered but your mom kept nagging you with her eyes so you sighed and said "well what is it, mom?"
"What were you fighting about?"
"At the party, Olivia was hanging out with a guy the whole time. She just wouldn't let go of him. All the time, you know? And they were obviously flirting! So she sees some good-looking hottie and she forgets she has a girlfriend! Is that even normal?"
"What makes you so sure they were flirting? Did you hear that?" Absolutely calmly your mother asked.
"N-no. But it was obvious"
"Yeah. I see."
You sighed. When you thought about it soberly you realized that you probably overreacted and overreacted and this conversation with your mom only reinforced that feeling.
"I screwed up, didn't I, Mom?"
Your mom hugged you and said.
"Honey, you're happier with Olivia than you've ever been. I haven't seen you shine around anyone the way you shine around her. You have a great relationship, she loves you and to see you hurt each other over such trifles I can't. I know it's none of my business but even though you are my daughter I can see that you were wrong in this situation. So my motherly advice to you is to go and apologize to Olivia"
"You're right, mom," you said, and without delay, you ran to the second floor.
You quickly got up there and went to the door that led to your bedroom. You knocked a few times and opened the door and asked
"May I come in?"
There was no answer so you went in. Olivia was sitting on the bed. When she saw you, she folded her arms across her chest and stared at her phone pretending not to notice you.
You sat down on the couch next to her and she asked
"What do you want here, Y/n?"
"I came to apologize to you" you replied "I'm so sorry "
"Yes you are" replied Olivia sarcastically, still hurt.
You took her hand in yours and it calmed you down a little.
"I admit that I was jealous of you for no reason. I'm sorry for accusing you of something you didn't do."
"I would never do that to you. Why would you even think that?"
"It's just...I guess I'm a little insecure. I sometimes feel like you'll meet someone better than me, cooler than me, and you won't need me anymore. And this guy... He looked and acted like some dream guy. Handsome, smart, gallant. Plus he's clearly your type. That's why I acted the way I did, but I'm sorry."
"I don't need anyone because I love you."
"And I love you Liv, and I really don't know what good I've done in this life to get the right to be with you."
"Silly, I don't need anyone but you."
"So you forgive me?" You asked.
"I do," smiled Olivia.
You snuggled closer to her and she put her arms around you, stroking your back. It felt so comfortable in her arms. You lifted your head and asked
"Can I kiss you?"
"You've never asked permission before," Olivia remarked, surprised.
"No, it's just that you kind of just forgave me and I thought maybe you didn't want to, you know..."
Olivia didn't let you finish but leaned over your face and kissed you. You ran your hands through her hair and returned the kiss. The guilt that was weighing on your heart was gone and you were enjoying every second of it.
"I love you Liv," you exhaled as you pulled away from each other for a second.
"And I love you Y/n" she replied and you stared into those brown eyes, unable to believe how lucky you are in life.
