WARNING: a bit of cursing in this chapter.

ARCAN

'Pet' he said.

Why did that one word tick me off?

to most that is endearing, to care for someone. To others, a kink, but I knew when Damien said it he didn't mean it in a postive way. Not a single ounce.

When he called Noelle that I knew what he truly meant. He really meant a mut.  A 'pet' to him is a unwanted pup. a thing waiting to be bought so they can be used for nothing more than one-shot tricks. Playing around until the owner gets tired of them and send them back from where they came. But that's not what Noelle is. No, he is much more than any sort of pet.

To me he is a gift in exchange for a gift. A person brought to me to fill in that cold, dry spot in my life and in exchange I give him what he deserve. Love and a Family. Something everyone deserves and something I got lucky to have. I know not everyone gets that. Hell, many have a family but get no love in exchanged. Born in a cruel world and raised to have a cruel life. Makes me wish I could hand out my love to all those children who need it. Id honestly do anything to see a bunch of smiles that shined as bright as Noelle's.

Maybe that's what truly ticked me off.

"Hey man... are you good?" I heard Callisto softly say.

I don't respond as I have not much to say. I just continue to rest myself in the tub and let the water soak my cuts and sore spots in the heat.

Though I don't respond Callisto walks in the bathroom anyway, holding the towel in his arm. He just sits on the toilet seat near by and looks at his hands. trying to think what to say. But I decided to break the silence before he could muster up any.

"I know I over reacted..."

"Over reacted?" He puffs and does a soft chuckle "that's the most tame over reaction I've ever seen if that's what you call an 'over reaction' "

I chuckle while watching myself in the reflection of the water.

"Oh really ?"

"yeah, usually when that asshat says even a word to you, a table nearly gets flipped over" he pauses "why is this one different?"

The last comment caught me off guard for a moment as I stay silent with his question. I wasn't sure if I should answer or not as even I had no true answer for it. So I just said what was on my mind.

"Its because I like Noelle"

I didn't look at Callisto but I could tell by only the silent of the leaking water from the tub faucet that he was at a lost of words. I could hear the smack of his lips and the click of his tongue as he tries to think of what to say.

"I already knew that...but elaborate"

I shift in the tub to face him.

"I mean I actually like the thought of Noelle being my son. I know its to soon to be determining that as it s only been a couple of days, but I can feel that this is what I want. Maybe there is a lot more to it that I don't understand myself, but I just know I want to give Noelle a lot more than what he has given me in the past week and a half. That being, hope."

Once again he is lost for words. But eventually, when the words process, he smiled, and not a small smile a big one that truly showed the dimples in his checks and made his eyes look like a side ways crescent. Its been a while since I seen him smile like that towards me. Most of the time its a small smile or a smile shown from pity. This is new.
