-first year-

"Uniform, check, books, check check check, wand, ch- oh damn where did I put you..." I list off the items needed for the first year of Hogwarts. Searching for my wand, I start turning my room inside out, checking under the suitcase, under the bed, no and nope. I look around with my amber eyes, spinning like a mad women, patting down my pockets feeling the thin pointy wand in my back pocket. I pull it out shaking my head, holding back a chuckle. Of course I would do that.

Returning it to my pocket, I close the suitcase and drag it down stairs to where my mother is ready to send me off to the school of witchcraft and wizardry.

10:57 am

"Run, Run, Run!" My mother exclaims as we charge through the brick wall between platform 9 and 10, getting through I see parents, all rushing to get a look at their children before they are sent away. "Honey, you get on the train, I'll get your luggage on, I love you, bye" with her sweet words I am pulled into an embrace so quick I don't even get to hug her back before she is pushing me to get onto the train, my carry on swings heavily against my back, winding me. Stepping up onto the train, my attention diverts back to my golden eyed mother. "And remember what your father said" she calls out, I turn away without another word, remembering his exact words clearly.

Stepping on board is both a dream and a nightmare with kids pushing past to either chase each other, find an empty compartment or wave goodbye to their parents. I am no different. I find the first empty compartment I could narrowly search for, sitting in the window seat. I see my mother rushing to find me after hauling my luggage into the train.

I lift my hand, a shy smile against my lips, waving to the woman who was waving back. Although the look in her eye was more determination; rather than what a normal mother would feel when they send their child away for basically a full year.

I place my carry on in front of my legs as the whistle blows loud and clear, the train was going to leave. Taking a deep breath, I look away from my mother and down to my carry on, just triple checking that it is there.

Finally alone, I mean truly alone -away from my mother and my father- I can think. Think about what he wants me to do and how I'm expected to...

My 'finally alone' thoughts were cut off by the door sliding open rapidly, I jumped in fright, my wand pointing directly to the girl in the middle of the doorway.

"OH!" the girl also jumped back in fright, "I-I-I'm sorry, I scared you, ha..." she stumbled on her words while I lowered my wand, "nice reflexes" she coughs nervously.

I smile a breathy laugh, leaving my lips and I rub the back of my neck, "no I am sorry, I guess I'm a little nervous and it has got me on my toes" I smile brightly at her.

She returns the favour, "all forgiven" she reply's.

"All forgiven" I repeat, "Is there a reason why you opened my compartment door?" I questioned, looking over her, she had plain robes and bucked teeth, her bushy hair bouncing as she walked.

"Um yes, right!" she reminds herself, shaking her head, "have you seen a toad?" she asks bluntly.

I raise my eyebrow, a chuckle escaping my grasp, "I'm sorry no" she sighs in disappointment.

"Okay, thank you" she goes to turn away.

My fathers words echo in my head 'make friends with the right people, ignore the others...' and so I do.

With her down the hallway a little, I step forward poking my head out of the door, "I could help you find your frog" I call to her, moving forward to be fully in her line of sight.
