"What was that?" Madam Pomfrey glared my way.

No. No no no no. My eyes widened, my limbs weak, my mind frozen. I couldn't process, it broke, I couldn't fix this, it broke, I couldn't save her, it broke.

02:07

Madam Pomfrey didn't care about my presence anymore, bolting towards the dying girl, breathing so forcefully her body would combust from the pressure, the frame of the bed she laid in rocking in every direction as she convulsed, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she repeated loudly, tears flowing from her wide eyes, the amber dulled to a deep brown, the light removed from the orbs, replaced with darkness.

I did this. I failed. Her last hope, crumbled on the ground in a mix of shattered glass and cloudy liquid.

02:08

Madam Pomfrey struggled to calm the girl, failing to inject her with a sedative.

I stood there awaiting the inevitable, watching the scene unfold.

I did this. I killed her.

My failing limbs took over, collapsing to my knees, my eyes continuing to to stare at Mia, everything slowed, her shaking, Pomfrey's attempts at calming her, the bed's rocking, the air in my lungs stayed, the tears in my eyes rolling, the liquid on the ground flowing, everything stilled.

I did this, and I couldn't undo it, I couldn't save her, she would die, it was all my fault, and all I could do was wait.

How could I have failed so stupidly? Dropping the cure, seriously, I should've held on tighter, I should've seen Madam Pomfrey coming towards me, I should've done better. I couldn't fix this, I will never be able to fix this. I failed her and all she needed was gone. The cure gone. Mia gone.

I reached the door of the hospital wing, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" I heard her voice, but she wasn't supposed to be speaking.

Theo was on the ground facing Mia's bed, his body slumped in regret. No. Just behind him was the unimaginable, the syringe, smashed, the cure, gone.

Mia was rocking so much the bed frame was shaking, her voice loud as she repeated her last words, her eyes wide, but they weren't her eyes, they were dark, a mud brown that dulled the light within them.

No.

Theo, what did you do?

"What Happened?" I grabbed Theo by the collar, pulling him up, his cheeks stained by water, his eyes red, and his face mournful. "What Happened?" I yelled at the boy.

Hermione, Ron and Neville arrived just after me, Hermione already breaking into tears, "Harry Stop!" she cried, leaning against the frame of the door as she slumped to the floor in tears, her eyes directed at the broken syringe.

Ron followed her eye-line, finding the needle, breathing rapidly as he did so.

Neville turned away, covering his ears, begging for it to stop.

"What Happened, Theo?" I knew I couldn't trust him, he did this, he is the reason Mia will die.

"It Broke!" Theo snapped, "it broke when I tried to get to her," he breathed.

I let go, no longer hearing the sound of Mia's voice, Theo stayed standing, his eyes not on me but on the girl in the bed behind me.

Madam Pomfrey was silent, her footsteps backing away from the scene.

I spun seeing the girl I loved, silent, tranquil.

Still.

Taking her last breath.
