HARRY

" Cor it's a 3 hour time difference," I complain into the phone.

"Crap I totally forgot, well I didn't want anything. I just figured out that the song you asked me about is sung by Bowie," her voice boomed.

" It is not!"

"It is, now we'll argue about it later, get back to sleep I have to get to school."

" Call me when you get home?"

" Yea, bye Harry," she says hanging up.

We had been in New York for a few days and I couldn't wait to get back to Los Angeles. This city was freezing and I couldn't stand it.

If Corie didn't have the phone I gave her I probably would have lost my mind. We were in constant communication everyday so far and I enjoyed it. It took a lot of convincing for her to keep the phone. She didn't feel comfortable having me pay the bill but I told her I needed her to have it.

Glancing at the clock I saw it was 4:04am. Dammit Corie.

Climbing out of bed I rubbed my fingers through my hair and head for our well stocked kitchen. I was thirsty and I could go for a snack.

I wasn't shocked when a curly haired female entered the kitchen wearing barely anything. Zayn always has different girls. Me too but not recently. I was busy texting, calling and face timing annoying Corie.

At the same time, I knew she wasn't my girlfriend and spending this much time talking to any female had to be unhealthy.

" I'm Rachel," the curly haired female says eyeing me in my boxers.

Chewing my turkey sandwich I ignored her. I'm sure Zayn didn't even know her name, why the hell did I need to know it.

"Good thing I worked up an appetite, I get to come in here and talk to you," she says leaning against the kitchen counter.

"Do I look like I'm in the mood to talk?" I ask her.

" You don't remember me do you?" she questions.

" Did we screw?"

" Yea we did. About 6 months ago..."

" Sorry babe, I wouldn't remember if it was longer than 2 weeks."

" Well that's fine. Maybe I can jog your memory, " she says licking her lips slowly. Just then Corie face timed me. Ignoring the young woman staring at me I answer the call with my middle finger in her face.

" Haha I said I was sorry for waking you up. I wanted to show you something," she smiles holding up a Bowie album and pointing to a song listed.

We had been arguing about who sung that song for nearly 2 days. "If you would have let me use the Internet we would've been figured this out," I said with my mouth full.

"Nah you rely on the Internet way too much."

" Says the girl face timing me at 4am."

"I see you're busy," Zayn's girl of the night says with an attitude.

" Oh I'm sorry I didn't know you had company..." Corie apologizes.

Walking towards my room I tell her I don't.

"Ok well I'm getting off the phone anyway."

" Don't forget to call me later girl."

" Yea, yea," she says hanging up.

CORIE

After hanging up with Harry I grabbed my books and bags for school. I'd be late if I started talking to him for too long. I felt a little weird about taking the phone he gave me but in the end I'm glad I did.

It was weird hearing a female there but he said he didn't have any company. I guess it really wasn't my business to dig into Harry's personal life.

As I headed to the door my heart felt as if it stopped beating. My dad was sitting on the couch staring at a tv that wasn't on. Why was he even up this early? I had managed to avoid him for a few days, mostly when he's in one of his drunken stupors.

" Where are you going?" he spat as I tried to walk past him with my head down.

" Dad it's Wednesday morning..."

" Did I ask you what today is?" As he stood I took a few steps back.

" No sir."

"That's the problem! You think you're too smart."

"Dad I'm going to be late--"

" Late for what?! You out there being a little whore with your friend? Huh?"

"I'm going to be late for school," I say looking down. I knew my dad well enough to realize no matter what I said he would be angry. I also knew I should brace myself for what came next.

" There you are! I've been looking everyw---" April began to say before seeing my busted lip.

I had been in the ladies room at school trying to make it look like a small cut. Sadly, I was thankful this was all he did, although I'd have to answer questions from people.

"Corie--"

"It doesn't hurt."

"That bastard," she says walking over to me.

"I'm okay April, really."

"He needs to be in jail!"

" I'll be 18 soon and then I can leave."

" You can leave now, my parents will--"

" April you can't mention this to them, please. Promise me." She looks down instead of answering me. " Promise me," I repeat.

" Okay, I promise," she finally says a few tears slipping from her eyes. " Look at me, I should be the one consoling you," she half smiles as more tears fall.

" When I hurt, you hurt. I get it," I say as she hugged me tightly.

" You're not going back there today. I don't care what you say. You're staying at my house tonight, alright?" she says.

I agree.

HARRY

"I can't wait until this is over. These meetings suck," I complain to Liam.

" Yea, I'm not too fond of them either. But it has to be done," he says dialing a number on his phone.

I suck my teeth when he says "I miss you too". Gay.

Glancing at my watch I realize Corie should have called by now, or at least left a message. Because it's pretty loud in here, I send a text.

♧Forgot about me, huh?♧

"We're going out tonight right?" Zayn asks spinning in his chair. Everyone agrees, except me.

" Oh come on even Liam is coming out tonight," Lou teases smacking the back of Liam's neck.

"Nah, no thanks. I'm just gonna stay in."

" Stay in and talk to Corieee?" Zayn teases dragging her name out longer than it should've been.

Before I could say anything else all of them began clowning me, even Liam. " She must be something if she's keeping you home on your last night in New York," he smirks.

" I'm staying in cause I'm a little tired," I defend hoping it sounds truthful. I mean, she did wake me up at 4 I'm the morning to talk about David Bowie. I smiled thinking about how annoying she is.

" Tired from talking to Corieee all night. He wants to stay up all night talking to Corie til the sun comes up," he mocked singing one of our songs. Prick.

It was 10 o'clock and she still didn't text me back. I had called her 3 times since then. What was going on?

Deciding there was nothing else to do I decided to go out with the fellas.
