CORIE
Graduation had come and gone and it was the day I leave for the summer program. I was getting a little further away from Harry and I figured the more distance the less chance I had to think about him.
"I'm having separation anxiety," April says hugging me as her dad brings in my last bag.
My dorm room which I shared with my roommate who had yet to arrive, was a lot bigger than I thought. It worked out well, especially since I didn't have a lot of stuff.
"You're coming up this weekend, right? " I ask her.
" Yea, late Friday night after I get off of that dumb job," she winks at her dad who was her new boss.
" You start your new job too, right Corie?" Mr. Jack questions.
" Yes, in a couple days."
" Well until you get on your feet, put this into your bank account," he passes me a wad of cash. If you tried to give money back to he'd feel insulted, so I don't try. "Tyson will stop by tomorrow morning to show you around, I know he'll keep his eye on you so I don't have to worry."
I enjoyed having him as a father figure, not because he gave me things but it seemed like he truly cared about me. He even carried a picture around in his wallet of April and I kissing his cheek wearing our caps and gowns.
I hadn't seen or heard anything from my father since the day he went mad and I liked it that way. As far as I was concerned my biological father was dead.
Tyson was in his junior year at USC, but helped out with the kids enlisted in the summer program.
I had only 3 classes and the first one started at 9am.
" Oh, I almost forgot, don't worry I got the number changed, " April smiles passing me the iPhone Harry had bought me. I had forgot I never gave it back to him. " Okay so we have a FaceTime date at 9 tonight sissy. I guess we should be heading out now...too bad we couldn't meet your roommate."
Just as she says that the door opens and Danielle is standing there holding a suitcase. What the?
" Oh this should be good," April says kissing my cheek and heading out with her dad.
HARRY
"You're such a cheating slut!" Long Legs complains shoving Liam as he sends her back home.
We were playing 'Sorry' and as usual Lou was winning. Manipulative prick.
When I heard Blondie's voice I looked up. Not sure why I always thought maybe one day Corie would be with her. Wishful thinking.
Normally I would pull her to the side and ask about Corie but I didn't care what anyone thought anymore.
" How is she?" I ask after greeting her.
"She's great, I just dropped her off at the summer program."
" Good," I say focusing back on the game.
When I first heard she got accepted to USC I wasn't shocked. However, I was happy something good was happening in her life. I wished I could've celebrated with her, or at least dropped her off on her first day.
Her school was only an hour away but it seemed like she was an ocean away and I was too busy trying to find out how long it would take to swim to her.
" Why don't you just tell her you love her Harry?" Blondie asked causing the whole room to get quiet. I was kinda surprised she asked me that considering she called me a piece of trash a few months back.
