„Are you sure, you want me to cover for Jisu?" Danbi didn't sound confident. Her Manager, Ahrin, asked her to interview instead of her co-worker Jidu who just tested positive for COVID.
It was still mandatory to do so beforehand to work with clients to ensure that no one caught the virus as most of their clients were well-known people such as Idols and actors.
"Danbi, I feel the most comfortable with you taking over out of everyone that's with you at the company," Ahrin assured the younger female over the phone. "I know it's an ideal situation for you but you know with so many sick colleagues I have no one you sent over and cover."
Danbi sighed and nodded while listening to her. She couldn't argue against it. And it was too late to cancel now as the team was already at the entertainment company and most of their stuff was already set up.
"I-" Ahrin interrupted. "Danbi, you know the schedule by heart and over the past few months you showed your talent and I'm more than confident in you doing this." Her smile was audible.
After starting at the company, Danbi was motivated and worked hard every day, stayed longer or worked at home to make sure everything was always perfect. It brought her joy, to see her hard work pay off and get recognition for it.
She loved her team, everyone was so nice and no one made a big deal out of it when her brother picked her up for the first time after he was away for two weeks for overseas work. No one thought about treating her differently because it was her work that got her to that position.
The younger female blushed a bit. "Thank you, Ahrin. I will make you proud."
It made the older laugh. "I have no doubt. Talk to you later."
The woman hung up.
"Let's get you ready." Sohee, this assigned makeup artist had stood behind her and listened to the call. She had received a message beforehand. Squeezing the younger female shoulders encouraging, they walked over to the makeup setup.
The two young women instantly grew a bond with Kim Sohee only being older than Danbi by a few years.
They shared a lot in common. Sohee studied aboard as well and struggled as well with the virus and moving back home.
The females shared a passion for dancing and went to dance classes together whenever their schedules aligned.
People even thought that the pair were siblings when first meeting them together.
It made the whole settling and coming home process easier for Danbi. She shared her pain with the older girl and found a safe place in the part Thai woman.

After, a little bit over an hour Sohee was finished with the makeup and hair of the younger female, who had grown a little bit nervous as the time passed.
"You will do great," Sohee told her for the tenth time.
She helped Danbi into the outfit she had picked out for Jisu. It matched the colours the idols would wear so it was a cohesive picture.
"I know but," Danbi raised her arms so Sohee could fix the skirt with pins as she was smaller than her colleague. "It's just a bit nerve-wracking to know I will be in the public eye myself. And when their fans figure out I'm the girl from the airport, I don't want to know what weird speculations will spread. I don't want to get them hurt in any way."
While fixing the last details, Sohee smiled at the younger woman in front of her.
"You are such a selfless person, Bee." She hugged her. "Everything will be fine and if anything happens, everyone has a great legal support team by their side to go against any allegations."
Danbi sighed and nodded, resting her chin on Sohee's shoulder.
"Thank you, Hee."
"You're welcome, Bi."
