Soft moonlight filtered in through the see-through curtains, casting soft shadows across the room. Danbi was cuddled up to Chan's chest, her arms nestled against his stomach, and her fingers clutched his shirt.
His body was like a shield radiating with warmth and strength. His arms were wrapped around her securely.
Throughout the night, he held her close as she poured out her heart, her words tumbling over one another in a flood of emotions.
Danbi shared memories of the people she loved the most with him. Chan wiped each tear from her cheeks as he listened with a heavy heart. He felt sorry that life had such a cruel plan for her.
By the time the pair fell asleep, her eyes were puffy and red. With anxiety and grief filling her every thought, the younger female had asked Chan if he would stay for the night and the day. He had pressed his lips to her forehead and promised to remain by her side until he needed to leave for work again the day after.
Chan had tucked the blanket around them, cocooning them in a shared warmth and comfort that provided her safety. He made sure, she rested comfortably on his chest and listened to her breathing before sleep gently enveloped him.

Hours later, the sun was high in the sky warming their faces gently, the Idol woke up from his slumber. Danbi was still curled against him, still visiting a dream world of her own. His gaze traced the contours of her peaceful face; remnants of her emotional night still stained her cheeks, and her eyes were still slightly swollen, yet she was still breathtakingly beautiful.
Carefully to not wake her up yet, Chan brushed a few loose strands of hair out of her face. His fingertips graced her soft skin. Danbi instinctively snuggled deeper into his chest, a soft smile resting on her lips while she remained asleep.
At that moment, he wished to hold her like this every morning. Chan yearned to hear her thoughts, learn more about her dreams and fears, and curl up together after long work days until they surrendered to sleep.
He had lost the battle against his feelings a long time ago.
After a while that he spent watching and cuddling her, the younger woman began to stir in his arms, moving even closer seeking his warmth as she slowly blinked awake. An adorable sight.
"Hi, Bi," Chan whispered softly, looking down at her with a smile that revealed his dimple - she had loved them from the first moment.
Danbi felt a rush of warmth wash over her, her cheeks flushing as she returned his greeting,
"Good Morning," her voice was hushed, barely above a whisper, "Thank you for being here." The color in her cheeks traitorously deepened, reflecting her gratitude and vulnerability.
"Always, Bi," Chan replied with a steady voice before pressing another kiss on top of her head, underlining the sincerity of his words.
The pair lingered in that moment for another hour, basking in each other's presence until Chan's stomach growled, breaking the comfortable silence with their laughter. Lighter feelings filled the previously heavy space.
"Here you go," Chan said with a smile as he set a steaming bowl down in front of her. Danbis's face lit up in a radiant smile of appreciation as she waited for him to take the seat across from her before she began to eat.
Chan had insisted on making them breakfast and ushered her to take a shower to freshen up. She came back to a heavenly smell filling her living room and a full table.
They fell into yet another moment of comfortable silence as they ate, the sound of clinking chopsticks punctuating the gentle quiet.
Their cheeks warmed whenever they caught each other's glances.
"Danbi," Her name falling from his lips in a more serious tone made her look up. Curiosity about what his words would be radiated from her, her eyes capturing his attention completely once again. Oh, how he adored them.
He set down his set of cutlery only to rub the back of his neck nervously.
"Today might not be the right day for this, but...." he hesitated. Danbi tilted her head a bit while her palms grew clammy at the uncertainty of what he would tell her.
Their eyes met again. He searching for confirmation in hers as he whispered,
"Can we talk about this? Us? Sometime in the future?"
Danbi felt the weight of the words settle heavily on her chest; she had anticipated this conversation and thought about bringing it up herself more than once, yearning for clarity herself but also being terrified of what it might mean. Her hands trembled slightly as she sat down her set.
Chan had the immediate urge to reach for her but hesitated.
She nodded almost imperceptibly and met his gaze, a shy smile growing as she affirmed, "Yes, please."
His heart soared at her response, feeling like it would break his ribcage any second. A beaming smile spread across his face, the infamous dimple deepening in delight.
Now, he reached for her hand, enveloping her smaller one with his and caressing the back of it with his thumb tenderly, the soft skin feeling like velvet beneath his touch.
"Thank you, Bi," he said, his relief palpable.
It was a simple act yet it ignited a spark within her, flooding her as well with warmth.
It was a glimmer of hope, a moment that promised something beautiful finally taking shape between them.
