The rising sun warmed her face and woke her gently.
She wants to turn to escape and sleep a little bit longer.
The weight on her waist stopped her. Danbi was wide awake then.

Chan's arm rested over the small of her waist. His hand brushed her stomach every time she took a breath. Goosebumps appeared all over her body after she noticed.
He laid close enough that she could feel the warmth of his body at her back.

"Quit moving and sleep a bit longer," Chan's deep morning voice rumbled behind her after she had tried to move away a bit. It made her shifter.

Barely awake and conscious the Idol pulled her closer to him, letting her turn in his arms and moved the other beneath her head.

"And relax," he opened one eye and looked down at her. She started at his neck, stiff. "Maybe I should have told you, I tend to cuddle." he chuckled.

"Mhm," was the only response she managed to give him. Her head spun with him being so close. She only felt and smelt him around her.

Danbi didn't see his smile while his eyes wandered over her face. He moved the arm underneath her head and angled his hand so he could thread his finger through her hair. Fingertips caressing her scalp.

This unwillingly made her relax. It was one of her weaknesses.

Danbi let her eyes close again.

And after a few minutes, both were asleep again, comfortably cuddling.

„Good Morning, sleepyhead," Chan's voice made her open one eye to see him standing in front of her with a tea filled with food.

This made her open the other eye as well before moving to sit up. Chan watched it with fond eyes and chuckled.

"Good morning," Danbi yawned and stretched her arms. "Did you sleep well?" she wanted to know while he sat down the tray in the middle of the bed and moved to the empty side.

„I haven't slept this well in a very long time," his answer made her blush, remembering how she woke up for the first time and fell asleep again.

He smiled knowingly. His dimple appeared.

„Making breakfast was the least I could do to thank you," he explained.

„Thanking me for what?" Danbi looked at him confused.

„For letting me sleep over and looking after me," his ears turned red. It's been a while since he experienced this much care from someone other than his members. His other friends outside the group did but they were busy with their schedule or lives.

"That's what you do for people you care about, Chan," Danbi smiled. "You did it so many times before for me."

He has been there for there despite his schedule and the time difference. Danbi had lost count of how many calls she sat there pouring her heart out grieving her loss and he listened, tried to calm her down as best as he could.

"For a different reason but still," she looked at him.

Chan looked up. Her smile warmed his heart.

"That's a beautiful picture," Chan picked up the frame sitting next to the TV.

„It's one of the last photos we had taken together before I left for Sydney." Danbi walked back into the room with two cups of coffee. She sat them down on her coffee table.

„Minho had just left for the military and it was one of his first days off." She walked over to him, taking the frame out of his hand.

Chan noticed the longing look in her eyes and the small loving touch with her thumbs moving over the faces of her parents before putting it back into its place.

He didn't miss her shaking hands and glassy eyes after they sat on the couch. The idol reached for her hand, squeezing it.

It was easier to talk about her parents. Easier sharing memories with him because deep down Danbi wished they could have met him or told them about the person she had met at the airport.

As time passed, Danbi learned that talking about the loss of her friend who was like another older brother to her or her parents helped her heal. Sharing the precious bonds she was grateful to be able to experience.

Chan caressed the soft skin of the back of her hand with his thumb.

Written all over her face were deep feelings. Her eyes filled with endless love.

"I miss them, Chan," Danbi choked on the words. Tears sprang to her eyes while he moved closer to her.

She looked up to the ceiling, trying to blink away the tears and taking deep breaths to calm herself.

"Look at me," Chan's voice was almost a whisper. He now held both of her hands in his, holding them tightly.

Danbi shook her head. She knew the unshed tear would start to fall then.

"It's okay, Bi," he told her, watching her bid her lips. Her shoulder started to shake with silent sobs.

It wasn't the first time, he witnessed her grieving. Chan wished he was more confident in how to comfort her.

A sob escaped her lips. The sound of many emotions broke his heart.

Chan closed the gap between them, pulling her to his chest. One hand held her to his neck while the other rubbed her back and rocked them.

" I'm sorry," Danbi whispered.

„There is no need to be, Bi," Chan responded, his head resting on hers. "And you know that."

„But you have your day off and-" Chan interrupted her.

„I told you before it's okay, Bi," he reminded her. "And as long as get to spend it with you and not think about anything work-related, the day is well spent."

It truly didn't matter to him how they spent the time.

Danbi could only nod, giving herself the permission to snuggle up to him more while letting the bottled-up emotions spill.

Chan wrapped his arms around her body, even more, reaching for the blanket behind them to pull it over her.

"I miss them so much," her voice broke again.
Danbi's heart longed for her parents in every way. It also missed another person.

Kim Jonghyun was loved by so many and missed by those even more. To him, Choi Danbi had been another little sister and their bond was one of a kind.

Losing him, broke her heart for the first time.

Chan pressed his lips to the crown of her head, letting her know he was there and would not leave. He held her for a long time like this.
