So let's get to the storyyy!
ROAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sophie woke up to the sound of roaring and indignant whinnying. Apparently, Wynn had flown too close to the gorgodon and the gorgodon was now trying to eat Wynn. Classic Wynn, Sophie thought.
"Mom! Dad! I'm up!" Sophie said. I need to go to Everglen to tell everyone..." She trailed off, not wanting to say the last part.
"We understand. Didn't you say you needed to hail everyone before you went?" Edaline said.
"Oh yeah, I'll do that now." Sophie wondered what Fitz's reaction would be. Happy? Sad? Angry? Most likely anger, because that was Fitz's default.
*Time skip cause I'm lazy*
After she had finished all the calls, she headed to the Leapmaster and yelled, "Everglen!" as the light swept her away.
Alden opened the gates. "Hello Sophie, what brings you here?"
"Oh, I just need to give everyone some news, and would you mind joining us along with Della? I feel like everyone should know this." Alden must have noticed the hint of sadness in her voice, because he said that was fine and allowed her to go inside.
Keefe is probably going to be okay with this, Sophie thought. Oh yeah, he isn't here..... Tears sprang to her eyes but she wiped them away.
"Sophie!" Biana exclaimed. "I got your hail and everyone is already here. What's going on?" She asked worriedly.
"I-It's fine... Nothing too big." Sophie lied.
"Everyone is in the dining room." (A/N I mean the one where Sophie first met Oralie, Bronte and Kenric) "Follow me."
Sure enough, everyone she knew and funny enough, the Councillors were bundled up in the room. Even Grady and Edaline were here and Dex's parents were here. Maybe Grady and Edaline thought to come and hailed Kesler and Juline, Sophie thought. Ro and Lord Casserole were there too. Sophie resorted to calling Cassius, "Lord Casserole" because of how he treated Keefe.
"What's going on?" Everyone asked at the same time except the Councillors. Sophie was sure they already knew because Keefe had ripped off his registry pendant. (A/N Sophie knows he ripped it off because if someone does something secret they take off/destroy their pendant.
"Well, this will be hard for quite a lot of you, but a very important person in our lives, has run away to the Forbidden Cities, Keefe Sencen," She started.
"Wait- WHAT!?" Fitz screamed. Sophie knew he was going to do that. Classic Fitz, she thought.
Dex just sat there, Biana covered her face with her hands, Marella looked a bit sad, Wylie looked like he was going to cry, Maruca's face was unreadable, Linh looked pale, and even Stina and Tam looked sad.
"If you want, I can read the letter he left...." Sophie said.
Biana and the rest of Sophie's friend group nodded weakly, the Councillors all nodded, and the adults gave their approval.
Sophie started,
"To the Mysterious Miss. F!
Ugh, i'm already regretting starting this letter that way. But I don't have any extra paper, and crossing it out would make it look even worse, so... I guess we'll just have to add that to my long list of mistakes.
And I know that you're going to think that everything i'm about to say should also be on that long list of Keefe Fails. But I swear-that's not what this is. I'm not trying to fix everything or save everyone this time. I'm just trying to make sure I don't hurt anyone.
I can't tell you more than that without putting you in danger, so just... Trust me when I say that the powers my mom gave me are super bad. There seriously aren't strong enough words to explain how horrible they are. And I CAN'T control them-just like I can't stop my mom from forcing me to use them.
So... this is the only way. I don't want to do it. But I have to.
And I'm not going to ask you not to hate me. In fact, it might be better if you do, because I need you to PROMISE that you won't try to find me. My mom will be waiting for you to track me down-and since I know how stubborn you are I want to make sure you understand who you'd be putting in danger.
I'm going to be hiding the same way the Black Swan hid you.
That's why you have to stay away. Well, there are lots of reasons. So again, please, just... trust me, okay?
And since this is the last time I'll ever talk to you, I just... I want to say that I'm really going to miss you. You mean a lot to me, Foster. More than you'll ever know.
Please be careful. Please be happy. And PLEASE forget all about me.
It'll be better for everyone that way. You'll see.
Love,
Keefe.
Sophie ended the letter with just "Keefe" because she didn't want the others to know what he'd actually written, but Biana seemed to already know what he had written.
By the end, everyone, even the adults but except the Councillors, looked like they were going to bawl their eyes out. Grady, not so much but still on the verge of tears. Hot tears poured out of Sophie's eyes. Why did he have to do this!!! He could train with Oralie, Councillor Noland (Or was it Darek?), Councillor Alina, and Lady Cadence, for goodness's sake but WHY RUN AWAY?!
HAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA CLIFFIE! I'm not good at writing cliffhangers so yeah. Again, I'm so sorry I didn't update sooner and I'll update as soon as I can!!
