Cassie sighed as she placed the diary on her bedside table, glancing at the picture of Hopper, El and her stuck to the wall with gum. Next to it a picture of her and Billy. Cassie stood up took the lighter from her bed with the box of cigarettes. She wandered outside to watch as the sun began to peak through the horizon.

Cassie Hopper was once the golden girl. Like Hawkins' own Daisy Duke.

She was the cheer captain. Very devoted. She was, anyway. She had her best friend, Nancy Wheeler by her side. They still liked to call each other friends but they both knew there wasn't much friendship left.

She had a boyfriend. Her boyfriend. She loved her boyfriend, even though his actions were questionable. He was mean, not to her, but to everyone else. Billy Hargrove wasn't the best person, but he was her person.

She also had a father, who loved her even when she threw away all his beer or threw away his cigarettes every time he lit one around her. He loved her so much. He killed himself protecting her. All she could show for her love was the yelling and screaming about how awful he was.

"Cassie!" the school therapist was stood in front of her trying to get her attention.

"Mmh yeah?" she looked at the woman trying to focus in on the world.

"Can we go to my office?" this was like clockwork, Ms. Kelly walking her down to her office. "So are those tablets working? Are you sleeping any better?"

"The flurazepam is working like a charm." she smiled lazily.

"That's good, Cassie, that's really good."

So the session went on and on. Ms. Kelly asked how she was coping, Cassie would always tell her that she is doing better.

Was she though? Was there a fast track? A way she could go back to the preppy girl she was six months ago?

Of course there wasn't. She lived in a reality where time travel didn't exist, but there was scary monsters that crawled out of another dimension.

"It was really nice speaking to you Ms. Kelly." the girl smiled fakely as she walked towards the door where Chrissy was waiting.

"I'll see you next week."

The two blondes smiled at each other awkwardly as they passed each other.

Cassie had her lunch off campus, like her and Billy did every Friday. She smiled at herself as she sat in the passenger's seat of her own car. She used to sit in the passenger's seat in Billy's Camaro. The same Camaro that almost ran her over on his first day.

She took a small bite into her wrap, not before removing the pickles. Cassie threw them out the window. Billy normally ate her pickles, taunting her about 'how nice they were'. Before she knew it, tears threatened her eyes. She couldn't even eat without crying. Cassie was a mess. She glanced out of her car to see Dustin and Mike approaching her car. She unlocked the back doors for them to get in, as they usually do.

"Hey kiddos." she said hiding the sadness in her voice. She turned her torso to face the 15 year olds.

"We need a favour." Mike said straight away. Not acknowledging her puffy red face that he noticed.

"Depends what type of favour?" she shrugged looking back at them. She could see the desperation in their eyes.

"Can you help with the campaign tonight?" Mike said looking at her.

"No way." she shook her head. Billy always told her the game was for weirdo losers with no self-respect.

"Please? you're our last hope." Dustin spoke up. She looked the boy in his eyes, looking at the sadness in his eyes.

Cassie sighed before she grinning widely. "Only if I get one of those cool t-shirts." She glanced at what they were wearing. She always had a soft spot for Dustin ever since she danced with him that night, he had always been her favourite. Mike, on the other hand, is her least.

"It's a done deal." Dustin and Mike got out of the car before Dustin cheered with glee.
