Cassie woke up to birdsong and something about the atmosphere changed. She didn't feel the need to write in her diary. She walked over to the small speaker that she owned and began playing music. Papa Don't Preach began to play as she walked over to the small kitchen that she used to share with her father and El. She grabbed a box of Eggos out the freezer and made them just the same way El liked them. Cassie lit a cigarette as she waited for the kettle to finish.
She turned down the music as she heard a knock on her door.
Nobody ever came here. She lived in her cabin which was far from the rest of town. Cautiously she opened her door as she saw Max and Dustin at her door. The two walked in and Cassie put out her cigarette leaving it dangling on an ashtray.
"What are you guys doing here?" she asked.
Max and Dustin explained. "Chrissy Cunningham? You're sure it was Chrissy?" Cassie asked as she sat cross legged on the couch.
"Yes, in her cheerleader outfit. Same thing she was in when I saw her with Eddie." Max said.
Cassie ran her hand through her hair before asking, "Did you tell all this to the cops?"
"No. No, but I... I can't be the only one who saw them together. They stood out."
"Eddie the freak with Chrissy the cheerleader?" Cassie said.
"I mean you were a cheerleader who loves DnD, it's not a far stretch." Dustin shrugged. Cassie thought for a moment.
I guarantee you Eddie is suspect one now." Max accused.
"We need to find him. Before the cops do." Cassie laced up her shoes and locked up the cabin.
"What's the plan?" Max asked as she got in the back with Dustin.
"We're going to need phones." Cassie said.

"Hey, Steve." they walked into the shop where Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley worked.
"You see this?" Steve asked gesturing at the tv.
"How many phones do you have?" Dustin asked.
"Someone was murdered."
"How many phones do you have?" Dustin asked again with more agency in his voice.
"Two. Why?"
"Technically three, if you count Keith's." Robin corrected.
"Yeah, three works." the trio shrugged. Dramatically, Dustin jumped over the counter, knocking over a pile of tapes which the two workers complained at.
"Dude. What are you doing, man?" Steve asked in annoyance.
"Setting up base of operations here." Dustin said as he looked at the computer, barely paying attention to him. Max and Cassie went the normal way around the counter.
"Base of operations?" Robin asked still in shock about her pile.
"Get off." Steve told Dustin.
"I need it." he says as he typed stuff in.
"For what?"
"Eddie's friends' phone numbers."
"Your new best friend you think is cooler because he plays your nerdy game?" Steve spoke with a hint of jealousy in his tone. Cassie rolled her eyes at Steve's voice.
"Yes." Dustin groaned before clocking what he said. "I never said that."
"Seriously, you guys, maybe on a Monday you can play around, but it's Saturday. It's our busiest day." Robin complained sorting out her pile, Cassie leaned down to help her pick up all the stuff. Robin smiled at the girl who reflected the action.
"Robin, I empathize, but this cannot wait." Dustin said as the trio looked at the computer with interest. Steve huffed dramatically.
"You're really entertaining this?" Steve asked the blonde girl who anxiously twirled her hair.
"Fill them in." Cassie said to Max.
"Fill us in on what?" Robin turned with exhaustion, Max looked at Cassie who looked straight back at her with encouragement.

Brief BTW, Billy treated either treated Cassie like a princess or treated her like complete shit. She stayed because she loved him and he loved her. The whole Mrs. Wheeler and Billy thing never happened because it's gross.
Also please feel free to ask any questions about Cassie's place within ST 1-3.
