The view at Prelude Beach has always been one of my favorites here in Hisui. The vast expanse of open sea can be intimidating, but I thought it was endless possibilities. I was here on the dock, letting my pokemon team get some much needed play time by the water, when I heard a familiar call. I look over my shoulder and I can see Adaman and his eveelutions walking toward us, his Umbreon the most excited of all.
The black and yellow Umbreon runs all the way over to my black and blue one that was laying on the sand and nuzzles up to her. Not many people around here had the ability to have an Umbreon so you knew they would be fast friends.
Adaman waves to me and gives his award winning smile. He reaches down to pet his Leafeon and it happily joins my shiny Sylveon and my alpha Zoroark and my Darkrai playing together, while his Vaporeon slips through his legs, rubbing against them, before challenging my Empoleon to a swimming race. The sight of all of our pokemon together, getting along really tugs at my heartstrings.
Knowing I can never go back to my old life is starting to really sink in for me. Its bittersweet if I'm being honest because I really can't remember much of my old life. Nothing specific has come back to me, only vague feelings of how things were.
Even the Galaxy Team has become foreign to me now, ever since Kamado banished me, things haven't felt the same here. He's tried, time and time again to apologize and I have forgiven him, but I can't shake the feeling of not belonging. It's starting to make me antsy and I haven't been staying in Jubilife much, preferring to stay at any of the base camps around the region. Rei has been out with me as much as he can be, but even though he's my best friend, he has his own work to do too, but I know he worries.
Adaman is the only thing that feels like home now. Not that I can tell him that, with him being the leader of the Diamond Clan. He fits his role so perfectly and I could never measure up to that. Now that I have to make a life in Hisui, all I know is I need him around, even if it's just as friends. He's the one person who makes me feel like I belong here at all.
"Hey Y\N! Nice night we're having, huh?" He makes his way down the dock to where I'm sitting and I take in his tall frame. Tall and muscular but not overly so. He definitely trained hard and his arms were huge and hard from hard labor. His right forearm was wrapped up from an old injury, but it never hindered him. He was wearing more casual clothes today, which I've never seen him in before. A well worn white tee shirt under his signature Diamond Clan jacket, dark blue long shorts, and sandals. He was stunning.
"Yeah, it's great. Perfect night for letting the team out and relaxing. I see we had similar thoughts." I chuckle lightly, and he slips off his sandals and sits to put his feet in the water next to me. He's so close that all I can smell is him, mint mixed with how it smells before it rains, and I have to close my eyes to concentrate but I don't move away. All I want to do is bury my face in his chest and breathe deep, but I can't do that. I clench my fists quickly and try to steady my breathing.
"Great minds think alike and all that." He winks when I do look at him, and my heart skips a beat. I wonder if he knows what he does to me. No matter where we are, he can always get a reaction out of me and sometimes I swear he does it on purpose.
I've had a crush on Adaman for as long as I can remember and I apparently was not subtle about it at first. Captain Cyllene called me out by the end of the first week I was here. She explained to me that the Galaxy Team had to remain neutral and I couldn't appear to favor one clan over the other. So, she told me I had to put my "infatuation for the Diamond leader" aside and focus on my work in the research corps. And I had done just that, trying my hardest not to let my feelings for Adaman show in any way, especially around Irida.
Irida was the other reason I knew Adaman and I would never work. They were "meant to be", practically set in stone already, at least according to almost everyone in Jubilife. The two leaders of the clans in this region couldn't be more different, which led everyone to believe they would eventually admit they were head over heels for each other and unite the clans one day... BLEGH.
