This story isn't all rainbows and unicorns, it's so much darker.
And it all began when a little girl was born.
Her name was Charlotte Hargrove and was born into this world by Neil and Sandy Hargrove. But before her, came her big brother William "Billy" Hargrove. When the sweet girl was born, he was four but he vowed to always protect her.
She was such a mommy's girl, which was normal and Billy, well he was a mommy's boy. Their father never showed any interest in them, always letting their mother take care of the kids.
Her favorite memory of her mom was at the beach, the two watching as Billy surfed the big waves. She looked up to her big brother, she wanted to be like him. She wished to surf with him, her mother would warn her it was dangerous.
"Charlie, wait until your big like Billy. Then I'll allow you to go surf with him."
Those were the good memories.
The bad ones were when Billy and Charlotte had to watch as their father abused her. Billy would try to protect her but he never could.
Then the day that broke the siblings was when their mom left them with him. Billy was only ten and Charlotte was six. How could she leave them with this abusive man? After that day, Charlotte began to go by Charlie.
They didn't have anyone to protect them. Neil often beat them, Billy always standing up for his sister.
Two years later, Neil remarried to Susan Mayfield. She had a daughter named Maxine "Max" Mayfield and she was the same age as Charlie. The Hargrove girl loved having a sister. Billy hated them. He didn't need anyone but Charlie.
He soon became troubled, being a bully to everyone even his new sister.
Charlie hated how he acted but she always defended him. She always would. Though she was scared he would become like their father.
But everything changed even more when the girls freshly became teenagers, the Hargrove/Mayfield family moved to Hawkins Indiana. And the kids hated it.
It would soon become the best thing and the worst thing to ever happen to them.
Hawkins was about to change everything.
If only Charlie made a deal with god to stop her family from making this choice. And for the worst thing to happen to her next year on the Fourth of July.
