"I just can't keep living like that. She wanted another baby, so we tried for another baby. Now, she's back to drinking. I can't make her happy, Chrissy. I've tried like hell," he slurred.

Dean was incredibly intoxicated. Chrissy put her head on his shoulder.

"I'm thankful for you, Chris," he said in his low voice. His hot breath tickled her ear.

"I'm thankful for you too, Dino." He leaned in and gave her a kiss on the lips. "Dean..." she mumbled, "We can't. You're still with Betty. I wouldn't do that to her."

"What about after Betty?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that you've been there for me through everything, and I love you."

"Oh, Dean," Chrissy whispered, "You know I love you too. I love you so much. If life worked out differently, we'd be together," she put her hands on his cheeks, "But I have more news. I didn't get to finish earlier."

"What's wrong, hon?"

"Dean, I've been going out with that real swell guy, Jack."

"Yeah, you brought him for dinner once, but Chris-"

"Dean, I'm pregnant. He's a good man, and he wants to do the right thing and marry me."

"You're getting married?"

"Like I said Dean, in a different life, we'd be together, but-"

"I'll marry you. No one else needs to know that the baby isn't mine."

"Dean, you don't mean that. You're drunk..."

Tears slid off his beautifully tanned cheeks, " I do love you, Chris."

"I'll always love you, my Dino."

Dean wrapped his arms around her and held her for several minutes. Chrissy had tears streaming down her face as she buried her head in Dean's chest. Dean cried too; it wasn't something most people saw, not even Betty. He kissed the top of her head, "You can't ever leave me, Chris."

"I won't," she hiccuped, "You're the one that's famous now."

"I'm not going anywhere," he hesitated, "Congratulations on the baby by the way."

"Thanks, Dino," she buried her head in his neck.

"Chris, even though it's not now, we're going to be together some day."

"I know. Noni said that too."

"I do love you... always will."

"Ditto, amore mio."
