EXT. Hawkins - night
Eddie and Dustin drive down the nearly abandoned streets of Hawkins.
The car jolts. Dustin looks to Eddie weary. The car jolts again.
Dustin
What are you doing?!
Eddie
Sorry, I don't drive very much.
Dustin
Keep it steady.
The car races around a corner and continues to fly down the street.
Dustin
Okay Speed Racer slow down a tad--
Dustin notices the sign to the lake at the last second.
Dustin
TURN RIGHT HERE!!!!!!
Eddie makes the turn and heads down a clunky dirt road. The car bounces roughly. Very roughly.
The hood of the car pops open and obstructs the view of Eddie.
Dustin
Shit!!
Eddie
Jesus Age Christ!
They crash into a tree. Smoke flows out of the front of the car. Eddie and Dustin slowly climb out from the car. Eddie puts his hands on the ground almost praying.
Eddie
Oh my-
Dustin coughs.
Dustin
You were the one driving.
Eddie looks up panicked.
Eddie
BABY!
Eddie runs to open the trunk of the car.
Dustin
What?!
Eddie opens the trunk and we see his guitar. Still intact.
Eddie
I was worried I lost you sweetheart.
Eddie runs his hand over the guitar.
Dustin
OK.
Dustin turns and gets in his backpack.
He pulls out a walkie.
Dustin
Lucas. Lucas come in over?
INT. Eddie's RV. night
Lucas picks up the walkie.
Lucas
This is Lucas.
EXT. Hawkins - night
Dustin
Eddie thought he was speed racer and wrecked the car. We made it to the lake. Any update on Nance?
INT. Eddie's RV. night
Lucas
Copy. No detectable movement from Nancy.
EXT. Hawkins - night
Dustin
Copy that. We are heading in, over.
Dustin hangs up the walkie and turns to Eddie.
Dustin
Eddie, let's go.
