The days were passing by and it had already been a while since Beomgyu last heard of Taehyun. The latter had even changed his number, so Beomgyu didn't have any possibility to contact him. Yes, Taehyun told him to forget him and move on, and yeah, Beomgyu was mad at him for that but he couldn't just give up, he couldn't! He still cared about Taehyun too much and was sick worried about him because he knew Taehyun was in danger. Beomgyu couldn't let anything happen to him, he wouldn't allow it. So if Taehyun wasn't willing to come back into his life then maybe Beomgyu could make him return?
Don't get him wrong. If Taehyun didn't want to have a relationship with him, then Beomgyu wasn't going to force him into being a part of his life again. He just needed to find him and make sure that he was safe, so he started looking for him. His men were looking for the boy everywhere, but the only thing Beomgyu found out was the fact that maybe he didn't even actually know Taehyun at all... Maybe he never did and it was just an illusion of his mind that they were close... Or maybe Beomgyu was wrong in believing that they had something special.
"As we found out he has completely no one he could stay with", Iseul told him one day as Beomgyu sat in his cabinet, drinking coffee after a long morning of searching around the town for Taehyun. "He is from North Korea, born in 1997", Iseul said and Beomgyu's hand suddenly froze, his cup stopping right at his lips as if he was shocked by whatever he heard, "His parents died in a war in 2008 and he was taken by the South Korean soldiers. No one knows how many years he spent in captivity or what they were doing to him there, but he somehow survived, we don't know what he was doing after that. We only know that he travelled to Italy before 2017. Then he started working at a cafe"
There was a dumbfounded expression etched on Beomgyu's face. It was like he'd heard something unbelievable. Something impossible...
Taehyun couldn't be...
He told him that his father had left many debts behind him and that's why he was being chased, but now Beomgyu was hearing that his both parents died many years ago in a war. What could that possibly mean? Taehyun lied to him? But why? What reason could he have?
Beomgyu trusted him, he really did, he thought he was someone trustworthy. And yet he turned out to be a completely another person to him. A stranger...
Beomgyu felt something break within him. There was a sharp pain inside his chest and tears welled up in his eyes, making them sting.
How could Taehyun do this to him? Beomgyu trusted him.
"Why is he being chased?", he asked his man as he tried his best to compose himself and gulp down his tears, "Who's after him?"
"We visited the cafe he used to work at and talked to the staff. They said they were from Europe and that there was a man with a snake tattoo on his hand. His name was Ennio. That's how the others referred to him"
Iseul's words seemed to trigger something in Beomgyu. An icy cold feeling rushed over him as he remembered how he made eye contact with the mentioned man that day; how sinister his eyes looked. The memory sent shivers down his spine.
"Ennio? Is he from Italy?", he questioned in disbelief, "That's impossible"
"As we found out he's from the Italian mafia"
His words left Beomgyu even more shaken and shocked. What did Taehyun even have to do with the mafia? Why would they go after him? It didn't make sense.
Just how much of a stranger Taehyun actually was to him?
Beomgyu felt like the air in the room had turned too hot, suffocating him. He needed space, he needed fresh air, somewhere where he could breathe freely.
