The flames of the candles blew away the darkness in the room, creating a warm glow on all sides as their glasses clinked together. The smell of freshly cut herbs and spices filled the room with its rich aroma, the smell of home mixed together with something else. A small smile played on his lips as he looked down at the wine glass that was resting between his palms, the scent of it intoxicating him and making his stomach twist around itself. He sighed softly, taking another sip from the glass before lowering it to the table once again. The taste of wine lingered on his tongue and in his mouth but never left completely.
"I'm happy that I managed to bring a smile to your face", Soobin commented with an amused grin and Yeonjun looked at him through his lashes, not even noticing that he was smiling to himself.
Well, yeah, he was happy. They were having a date in Soobin's house. The latter had prepared everything for them to have a perfect evening. They weren't alone though, Eunji was sitting there with them at the table and it wasn't like any of the males were disturbed by her presence, on the contrary, they were both happy that the little girl was there with them and brightening up their evening even more with her cute presence. Yeonjun had been over the moon since they arrived at Soobin's house half an hour ago. At first, the male wasn't very interested in the date, he just wanted to spend time with Soobin and enjoy being with him. But then, when he found out that Soobin planned this whole dinner, that their date consisted mostly of wine and desserts and a beautiful night which was lit up with candles, he was beyond excited.
"Thank you...", Yeonjun murmured softly, looking down at his plate shyly, "For tonight, I mean"
Soobin simply grinned at the boy and raised his own glass, "As if I would miss my chance to be with you". The two exchanged soft gazes with each other and it almost seemed like they both knew exactly what the other wanted without saying anything at all.
They suddenly heard Eunji giggle beside them and turned their heads towards the direction of where the sound came from. The five-year-old girl sat between them with the most mischievous glint in her eyes and Yeonjun couldn't help but chuckle.
"I'm sure you're about to say something naughty, aren't you?", the oldest said while trying to hide the playful glint in his own eyes. The little girl giggled again and nodded. Her fingers brushed against the rim of her cup lightly as she drank some water and Yeonjun could see the pinkness on her cheeks as she covered her mouth.
"Soobinnie loves uncle Yeonjun", she whispered as if telling an embarrassing secret, leaning closer to the older boy who immediately blushed slightly upon hearing it.
Soobin chuckled while Yeonjun poked her side gently with his finger, "Hush! You shouldn't tell people such a thing!"
Eunji frowned and tilted her head to the side. "Why not?"
Yeonjun cleared his throat as he gave Soobin an awkward glance, then looked back at the little girl, "It's embarrassing"
"She's not wrong though", Soobin commented and Yeonjun almost choked on his saliva, the man was actually enjoying teasing him and he couldn't believe it.
The older sighed and looked away from Soobin, trying to appear indifferent and calm. He hated how easily Soobin could make him melt into a puddle of mushy goo with just one simple word or gesture.
"But don't worry... Uncle Soobin isn't ashamed about loving uncle Yeonjun", Soobin told the little girl with a wink, causing a slight smile to form on her lips. Yeonjun looked at her surprised while biting his lower lip.
His heart skipped a beat when he heard the last sentence. There was nothing wrong with loving someone. In fact, it was normal, natural and accepted. But he couldn't just help feeling embarrassed. He felt his cheeks heating up and hoped that the dark room would swallow him whole. He had no idea whether Soobin had meant that in a friendly way or a romantic one.
