It was already night when Yeonjun got back home. Nature was quiet and as he stepped into the house, all the lights came on at once and illuminated the living room in a harsh orange glow. He blinked owlishly for a few seconds before stepping into the kitchen. In there, he saw Soobin sitting at the table with messy hair, drinking lemonade juice.
The dark-haired guy smiled at him but didn’t get up from his seat in the dining area of the kitchen. "Welcome home!", he said sweetly. The sight of Soobin smiling at him made Yeonjun feel something bubble inside his chest. That feeling of warmth spread to every part of his body, making him shiver ever so slightly. It took him a moment to realize that he was grinning like an idiot in return which made him feel embarrassed.
He cleared his throat, walking up to the table and grabbing a glass to pour himself some juice. Soobin’s smile grew wider and Yeonjun thought it would be easier if he just kissed that grin off Soobin’s face.
Wait! What was he even thinking?
Yeonjun turned around after taking three gulps out of his glass and was met with Soobin still staring at him expectantly.
"What?", Yeonjun asked as he seated himself on the chair across from the other man.
Soobin looked up at the ceiling and shook his head. He took a deep breath before looking at Yeonjun again. His expression was soft, but also serious and Yeonjun wanted to ask what had him in such a rush to look so serious but didn't want to make it seem like he'd overstepped his boundaries.
"It's nothing", Soobin started slowly, the corner of his mouth curling upwards soft, "I'm just glad you're back"
There was that warm feeling in Yeonjun's stomach once again. A soft smile broke out across his face as his cheeks warmed up. There was something about how Soobin talked that always made Yeonjun feel like he could say anything and everything. He'd never felt this way about anyone else before and Soobin knew that but somehow it didn't bother him. Not anymore.
"Are you going to go to bed now?", Soobin asked as he watched Yeonjun take another sip of his lemonade.
Yeonjun shook his head. "I don't really feel like sleeping right now"
Soobin nodded softly, a content expression appearing on his face. He leaned forward then, resting his elbows on the edge of the wooden tabletop, cupping his chin in both of his palms. His brown eyes looked intently at Yeonjun, a small sparkle showing behind the lenses.
"Then maybe we can spend some time on the balcony again", Soobin offered tentatively. His voice was low and husky.
The older boy raised one eyebrow slightly and glanced out of the window where the stars shined brightly through the large, clear dome. The sky looked like it had been painted with stars. The air outside had a refreshing coolness to it. The moon was full and bright enough to see almost everything clearly.
"That sounds great", Yeonjun replied, averting Soobin's gaze as he felt embarrassed for agreeing to Soobin's offer.
They sat in silence for a while. Yeonjun was thinking too much about his situation as Soobin was playing with the zipper of his jacket in the middle of the table. When Yeonjun finally managed to calm down, he decided to break the ice by drifting his eyes to Soobin, catching him staring which made Yeonjun get flustered and look away right off.
Soobin smirked secretly at that.
"Come on", the latter said as he stood up and walked to Yeonjun’s chair, holding his hand which almost gave the other a stroke, his eyes widening. "Let's go upstairs", he pulled Yeonjun up from his chair gently but firmly and led the older towards the stairs.
