Meet Sarah Parker, the beautiful daughter of Peter and Gwen Parker in an alternate universe, who has inherited her parents' scientific genius, as well as her father's amazing spider-powers. Using her gifts to the best of her abilities, she studies s...
A new day dawned for San Francisco, and soon the students of Horizon University were busy with their various academic studies. Although mainly a institute for scientific learning, the University had in recent years expanded to include an Art and Design department as well, which was ideal for Sarah and Annie since they would not have to study at different campuses.
At the moment, Annie was in the arts section concentrating on her fashion designs, whilst in the main science building, Sarah was busy in the technology section, working on an invention of her own design. She had an hour to go before Professor Warren's lecture would begin, so she decided to use the time to create a gadget that might possibly help with her own crime-fighting adventures. Resembling a small metal disc, its purpose was to short-out any electronic gizmo that it would come into contact with, and thus render said gizmo useless. Sarah had got the idea after her battle with the Shocker yesterday, as it occurred to her that if those villains who relied mainly on tech were not able to use their devices, then they would be much easier to defeat. The jammer device could also be used for helping to shut down any machines that get out of control for whatever reason, which could have its uses.
Sarah was just finishing welding the device with her soldering iron, when she realised that Max Modell, director of the University, had entered the room, a friendly smile on his face as he watched the young girl genius at work.
"Busy on another invention, Sarah?" Max asked with interest.
"Sure thing, Max," grinned Sarah as she put down the iron and removed the safety googles from her face. "You know how I like to keep busy."
She proceeded to explain the purpose of her invention to Max, as he was one of the few people she trusted with the knowledge of her true identity as Spider-Girl. At present, the only ones who knew about Sarah's duel life were Annie, Max, Sarah's own parents and Annie's mother.
"Sounds impressive, Sarah," said Max. "Though aren't you a bit worried that your device could fall in the wrong hands and be misused?"

"A little," admitted Sarah as she picked up the finished prototype. "Which is why after the next lecture I'm going to today, I'm going to put this baby in the main University vault for safety, along with the other students' untested inventions, and keep everything hush-hush on it for now. Of course, it does depend on a specific power unit in order to work, which I'm constructing separately back home."
"Very sensible," said Max, as Sarah picked up her backpack, opened the secret compartment containing her spider-suit and web-shooters, and slipped the new jamming device inside. "At least your other designs aren't so potentially dangerous. That anti-gravity hoverboard of yours was a great design. It'll be very useful for astronauts in space."
"Thanks, Max," smiled Sarah. "I got the idea from one of the sci-fi movies Annie and I watch at home. Anyway, I better get going, cause I don't want to be late for Professor Warren's lecture."
