Hermione's view
None of them, and I mean none of them even talked to me during the whole of my wedding. I say sad smiles on Mr and Mrs Weasley's faces as I had written more about the situation to them, but the rest of them gave me cold looks. It broke my heart to see them all look at me like that. I loved Draco though, I know we had only been technically together for about two weeks, but I had feelings for him since about fourth year when he had really started to grow up. It wasn't just some silly crush anymore, it was love to me and I could see Draco felt them, well at least I hoped so.
The day after our wedding we packed up some things and went on our honeymoon. We went to Scotland, to the small countryside to get away from the world before everything came crashing down and we had to face society. We stayed in a small cottage not far from Hogwarts, there was flowers everywhere. We went for walks and spent time together trying to figure out if we would stay in the Manor with his mother or move into our own place. We came to the agreement that we would spend our first year in the Manor looking for our own place, whilst trying to figure out our lives. This way we could confide in his mother for help. I had to try to figure out what I would do, I wanted badly to possibly go back and teach at Hogwarts, Draco thought this was a great idea. He had the same feelings and wished to possibly go back to teach as well becoming the potions or dark arts professor. I really wanted to become the history, charms, or ancient studies professor. I quickly sent a letter to Headmaster McGonagall about our interests in teaching at Hogwarts again. I had gotten a reply within a matter of hours, informing us that she would be ever so grateful for us to teach. She had also written that if we were free tomorrow if we could come in to have a chat about how this would work out. I replied stating we were in a small cottage not far from the school and would be there for morning tea.
The next day we woke trying to find some professional looking clothing to wear to meet McGonagall. I found an emerald silk shirt and a black pencil skirt that went to my knees, I put some respectable heels on which were closed, they were shiny and black. I push my hair back so that it was out of my face putting the pieces from the front into small braids and moving them behind my head. I put a little makeup on and went to find Draco who was in the same colours as me. He had an emerald shirt on, some black dress pants, and a black tie on which he was fiddling with. "Here, let me fix that," I moved over to him and grabbed it out of his hands and tied it up for him. Once I was finished, he kissed me. "So, wearing my colours, are we?" Draco smiled smugly at me, "I thought you would have worn your house colours since we are heading back to your favourite place". "I thought about it but I prefer these colours on me now, and anyway we are married and they are your family colours", I say looking down at my clothing. "Our family colours now, you mean," Draco said coming over to me and lifting my chin up with his finger to face him before placing a gentle kiss on my lips. I smile before I grab my wand and my bag, grabbing Draco's hand on the way out of the cottage.
We decide to apparate to the front of Hogwarts as we would prefer to walk around the grounds making our way to the headmasters office instead of flooing in. The school was empty except for the headmaster and some wizards fixing the school ready to start school again in September. We head hands moving through the school past the portraits, some giving us smiles happy to see us back in the school and other glares as they see us holding hands with rings on our fingers. We make it to the front of the McGonagall's office, and she opens the door obviously hearing us coming. We walk inside to find her behind her desk working through some paperwork.
"Miss Granger, Mr Malfoy welcome", realising her mistake she corrects herself, "I am sorry dear I forgot, Mrs Malfoy. That is one thing I don't know if I will become used to very soon." I look at her with a smile before saying, "no, I understand it's hard for me to get used to as well." "Come, sit, we have much to discuss", McGonagall says motioning at the chairs in front of her desk for us to sit down. We move over to the chairs and take our seats before McGonagall starts talking away. "I was surprised to see a letter from both of you about wanting to teach here, I was however not surprised that you wanted to Hermione. Yet, Draco, it surprised me that you wished to teach, was it because that is what Hermione wishes to or for your own reasons. Now, do not get me wrong I would love you to teach here since you were next best at everything to Hermione but potions, that is where you shone Draco," McGonagall said looking over at Draco. "No, I have always wanted to come teach, it would be much better than working at the ministry or for my families company. I am very fond of potions, if I was not to become a teacher I would have to find my skills for making and teaching potions elsewhere. I would love to teach here however, if that is a possibility," Draco said proudly holding onto my hand tightly unsure of what McGonagall would say next.
"Well, I would love you to teach potions Draco, Slughorn has said if someone would take over, he believes he is definitely ready for retirement now, especially after what happened not so long ago. If you will be happy to, I would love you to take his position as the potions professor Draco," McGonagall states. A smile arises on his face before he says, "thank you, I would love to, when do I start." McGonagall laughed at his statement before turning to me, "now Hermione, you stated in your letter you wish to teach history, charms or ancient studies. Is there one particular one out of those three you would prefer more?" I think for a moment before saying, "well, I am rather good at charms but it's not what I would most prefer, history of magic as I love to read, and I believe I could pour my heart into it and make it more enjoyable for the students meaning they will get better marks." "Right, I believe we have a new potions professor and a history professor," McGonagall stated with a big smile on her face.
"There is much to organise before the school year begins, I will send you each a list of things you will need, I can show you to your classrooms now if you wish to stay for the rest of the day to make them how you see fit, then about two weeks before school begins in September I would like you both to come to meet all the other professors and we will arrange rooms for everyone so everyone is comfortable before the school year begins," McGonagall states as she stands up, we follow her to our classrooms. First there is mine which needs some cleaning and moving around of things, and Draco's just needs some cleaning however, he may want to change things as well. McGonagall leaves us to clean and do as we please. After we finish, we head back to McGonagall's office to say our goodbyes before we see her again in a few months. We then make our way back to our cottage before packing our things up and apparating back to the Manor to inform Narcissa of our exciting news.
