"You look gorgeous." The princess smiled seeing the young lady wearing a formal gown. It's more of a vintage style but it still looks amazing if you wear it properly. "And you look dazzling." The lady smiled back, mirroring her expression.
"Thank you, shall we get going now? We don't want to be late, do we?" Athy held out a hand. "Yes we shall." The amber-eyed lady laughed a little before they went to the celebration hand in hand.
"Are you okay? You look nervous." The princess nervously asked. It's still been 5 minutes since they got on the carriage to go to the party and yet, the lady couldn't help but be nervous for no reason at all.
Or is there?
"I'm alright, thank you for your concern." The white-haired girl smiled. "I'm just a little dizzy, is all." She ended her sentence. "Do you want to stop the carriage for a little while? I can tell the coachman to stop it for you."
"No, it's fine, really." She giggled. "Don't worry too much." The princess sighed. "It's just, I don't want you to be uncomfortable. I should take care of both my friends and my people. And you are one of them."
The girl kept ranting and ranting until they finally reached their destination. Finally, for goodness sake, it feels as if it has been years of rambling on whatever she had to say! But what can she say, that princess is one fun one if you'd get to know her more.
"Careful now." The young Florence warned as the Obelia princess stepped out of the carriage. "Thank you." She smiled. "My pleasure."
"May I present, her majesty the crowned princess, and her lady the princess of the Florence duchy!"
Everyone gasped as both the ladies went inside. Even if their clothes weren't all that, they still were the star of the show, despite just being guests. I mean, it's the princess and the crowned princess!
"It's a pleasure being here to celebrate your birthday with you, Ms. Valerie." Both of them slightly bowed their head but not too much, knowing their places as high ranking people. And people like those doesn't bow their head fully.
"Oh please, raise you head!" The girl panicked. "It is an honor, your highness's!" She waved her hands in front of her face before both princess's raised their heads, making sure their posture was good.
"Oh, right. Here, this is from me and this is from lady Florence." The jewel-eyed girl handed two gifts to the girl, making her bow her head in appreciation. "Thank you very much! Please, come this way."
And with that, they were both led to the main party area to party.
I mean, duh? what do you think they were gonna do at a party? Play around and read books all day?
Author, shut it.
Yes ma'am.
After some time, the music changed from ball music to waltz. One by one, a man held out a hand for the other woman to take it and gets guided to the dance floor to dance.
Viviane peeked to see the crown princess accepting a dance from a noble's son, since she probably couldn't reject him, that will be too rude of her. The princess made eye contact with her and gave a small pout. The lady shook her head, signaling her it was okay to have a little fun.
And before any man could have the chance to get closer and offer a dance with the young Florence of the Florence duchy, a pair of shoes were seen getting closer to where the lady was sitting.
"May I have this dance, if you don't mind?" the lady looked up to see the duke of the Alpheus house, holding out his hand. "Don't you think there are other girls out there?" She laughed, looking at the other ladies waiting for the white-haired boy to ask them for a waltz.
"But, I would rather dance with you." He stated almost immediately. He was prepared to get rejected but to his surprise, the lady stood up and accepted his hand that was held out for some time now.
"Alright then." She blinked and smiled a little. Even if she did decline his offer, she'll probably regret it for the rest of her life. And plus, he's a duke now, so might as well accept it. She can just pretend that this dance is between a noble and a noblewoman.
Without words exchanged any longer, they went to the dance floor. She placed a hand on his shoulder while he placed a hand on her waist. The other hands of theirs were interlocked and with that, they started to dance slowly.
"Don't be nervous. Try to be less stiff, it works from time to time." The gold-eyed boy whispers before laughing a little, making the lady giggle. "You're pretty observant." She said as the boy shrugged.
They danced more before the whole room was filled with happy couples and other people dancing their life away. A man was about to bump into the young Florence when the duke immediately pulled her closer to him, making the man apologize for such actions of his.
After they were done, they let go of each other before bowing their heads.
"Thank you for accepting this dance." He smiled genuinely. "It was my greatest pleasure, duke Alpheus." She mirrored his expression before turning around to walk away. But before she could do so, she heard a mutter from him.
"Pardon?" The lady asked, clearly confused. He usually doesn't speak in such a low voice like that, well, not that she knows of. He usually tells stories with such a happy expression and loud voice.
"'Kiel." He finally said. "It's more comfortable when you call me that." He added his sentence, making sure he wasn't too rude. Not that anything was rude with what he said at all. The young princess blinked a couple more times before smiling.
"Then, it was an honor dancing with you as well, 'Kiel." She giggled before bowing again and going to where Athanasia was, leaving the boy with his thoughts.
If only he could turn back time so he can finally see that she was someone worth his time.
