It has been exactly a year later, meaning that the young duchess-to-be will be crowned the new young heiress of the Florence duchy.
"Viane!" The Obelia princess's voice was heard around the young lady's makeup room as she was getting ready for the big event. "Athy!" The lady happily embraced the other girl. "What brings you here?"
"What brings me here? You of course!" The jewel-eyed girl exclaimed. "The servants said that everyone should stay and wait outside but I just can't wait any longer!"
"Plus, I'm the princess. So, who's stopping me?" She laughed. "You don't mind me being here, do you?" Her eyes were filled with concern since she didn't really have any permission from the duke of the Florence duchy to be here.
"Of course not." The young lady shook her head. "Yay!" The princess flung her hands up above her head, clearly happy to get permission from the lady herself. "You look beautiful, Viane." She said tearfully after being calmed down by her best friend.
"Thank you." She chuckled a little. "Want to watch me get ready?" She added. "Alright then!" The young Florence ordered a servant to get a chair for the princess which they immediately did. They don't want the crowned princess to get tired by standing up all the time after all.
Some silence was heard from the makeup room as the maids placed some light makeup on the lady before the white-haired female called out. "Athy?" The princess's head turned instantly.
"What is it?" She asked. "I'm nervous." The lady said with a shaky voice. "What if I mess up? What if I really am not fitting to be the heir of the throne of this dukedom?" She said, clearly terrified that something bad may happen.
She still has her brother to look out after all. Who knows, maybe he hired some kind of assassin to assassinate her in the middle of the ceremony? He can go that far if no one's looking, you know.
"Oh, come on," The princess's voice shattered her inner thoughts. She then realized the girl was standing up and not sitting, now beside her as the servants fixed the lady's hair to make it look neat for the event.
"You are the Viviane Florence. As far as I know, you never made a mistake, not even once, plus, all the people here will protect you, including me," The princess made the lady turn to her side. "So, I just know there is nothing to be worried about. Cheer up, okay?"
Those words are just exactly what she needs right now.
"Thank you, Athy. I will." The Florence smiled and they both laughed before a servant came in. "Excuse me, your highness's, but your majesty the crowned princess, the emperor is looking for you." They said with a bow.
"I have to go for now. My father will be worried sick if I don't." She embraced the lady one more time before heading out the door. "I'll meet you later, okay?" She smiled as the lady mirrored her expression with a nod.
"You're very close with the princess, my lady." The servant said as they fixed their master's gown. "Yes, I was friends with her ever since we were still pretty small." She bragged a little, looking at her reflection as the other maids squealed.
"Wow! It must be amazing having a friend as kind and beautiful as the princess!" They beamed before going back to their work. "But, you're still as kind and gorgeous, my lady." The young lady laughed before she was escorted out after everything is finished so the ceremony could begin.
Inside a room where her family members were at, she walked towards them with a small smile on her face, making sure she wouldn't show any nervousness at all.
"You really do look exactly like your mother, my dearest." Her father said with a sad smile as he embraced his only daughter as her brother scoffed. "You compliment her too, as her brother." The old man scolded a little.
"You look.. okay I guess." He tried to say before her father yelled on how that 'compliment' wasn't genuine at all. "It's fine, father. And thank you for the compliment, dear brother." She sarcastically said the last part on purpose.
"My lord, the ceremony is about to start." A guard spoke with a formal voice before bowing and leaving the family to have a last minute talk. "All right. Let's get going." Her father commanded as her brother went out first.
"If you're ever uncomfortable, please tell me or give me a signal, okay?" Her father hurriedly spoke as he went for the door. "Yes, father. I will." She said with a smile on her face still remaining. "Remember, Viviane, I will always be proud of you." Her father stated before going out the door.
Silence was then around the young lady before the doorknob made a sound, meaning that someone is walking in any second now.
"May I come in?" He said. "Yes, you may." She responded, feeling a little bit safe now that she knows that voice. With the turn of the doorknob, he walked inside the room and there he was, dressed in formal attire with his hair fixed up.
"What brings you here, 'Kiel?" She asked, confused. "I just want to look at you in advance before you truly become the duchess." He said before he heard the lady giggle. "Don't say that as if we won't be seeing each other anymore."
The sound of a bell was heard from afar, signaling everyone the ceremony is about to start in a couple minutes.
"Well, if you're done now, I should get going." The young Florence smiled before her heels hits the marbled floor as she headed for the door.
"I love you, Viviane." His words stopped her from walking any further. What a sudden confession, no? She paused for a moment before turning around.
"I too, have loved you, Ijekiel Alpheus." She simply confessed. "But not anymore." She stopped for a second before chuckling.
"Maybe, maybe in the next life." She said. "If next lives do exist, I will love you again there. That is, if we ever meet again." She halted her words before smiling.
"I'll look for you in our next life then. And if that time comes, I will love you all over again and make you fall in love with me, just like you did before." He responded with determination.
"Alright then. I wish for you to find me, and make me love you."
And with those words, she left without turning back as she saw the path that was laid for her, ever since the very beginning. The path where she has been working so hard for, and her destiny.
As the duchess.
"Hello? Are you still there?" A friend over the phone asked. "Oh, yes, I'm sorry. What were you saying again?" She asked back with a laugh. "I said if we can maybe have a small movie night next Saturday if you're free?"
There was a short pause before she spoke again. "I'll check my schedule then and I'll update you."
"Okay, sweet! I'll talk to you later!" Her friend beamed with happiness. "Alright, bye." She hung up and started walking down from the flower aisle. She was about to go to the cashier to pay for the book she found before a hand stopped her and held her wrist.
"What--" She was about to speak when she saw those golden eyes. Eyes as bright as the sun and eyes she finds familiar when she never really saw anyone with those eyes before. He then smiled oh so lovingly before speaking.
"Finally, I have found you."
