8:45 am... Oh my god, I'm so freaking late! I screamed as I scrambled to get dressed. School had started an hour ago, and no one had bothered to wake me up. My parents drive me crazy sometimes. I rushed downstairs after getting ready, only to find that my parents weren't home. Usually, my mom makes breakfast and wakes me up when I'm running late, but today was unusually quiet.

I quickly grabbed a snack and called an Uber to drive me to school. Guess what? I got detention. How annoying is that?

As I entered my class, all eyes were on me. I greeted my teacher and went to my seat.

"Girl, you're so flipping late," Jennie said.

"Yeah, I know," I replied.

"What happened, Jezz?"

"Nothing, just woke up late."

The teacher caught Jennie and me talking and sent us out of the class. As Jennie and I roamed the halls after being kicked out, we bumped into Felix. Jennie tried to hug him, but he refused and gave her a handshake instead. Then, to my surprise, he hugged me.

"Jennie, do you not know I have a girlfriend?" Felix said.

"Woah, hold up, Felix. Who is that?" Jennie asked.

"It's Jezz."

Jennie turned to look at me in shock.

"So, when did this happen, huh, Jezz?" Jennie asked.

"Not long ago," I replied.

"No wonder he only hugged you," she said.

"Anyway, girls, I gotta go. I'll see y'all around," Felix said before leaving Jennie and me.

For a few minutes, Jennie and I stood in awkward silence until she broke it.

"I'm happy for you, Jezz."

"Really, Jennie?"

"Yeah."

"Jennie, you know I only did this for the bet we made, right?"

"Yeah, I know."

A few seconds later, the bell rang, and I proceeded to my next class. While in the middle of class, I received a text from a mysterious number. The text read: "We have your parents. If you want to see them alive, follow our instructions carefully."

I panicked and quickly asked to use the restroom. Once I exited the class, I was too focused on the message and bumped into Felix again.

"Jezz, what's wrong?" Felix asked.

Jezz's POV

My heart pounded as I looked at Felix, trying to figure out how to explain the situation without losing my mind.

"Felix, it's my parents. They've been kidnapped," I whispered, my voice trembling.

Felix's eyes widened. "Are you serious? Who sent the message?"

"I don't know. It was a random number. They said they have my parents and that I need to follow their instructions if I want to see them alive," I explained, my voice breaking.

Felix put his arm around me, pulling me into a comforting embrace. "We need to tell someone, Jezz. This isn't something you can handle alone."

"I can't. They might hurt my parents if I involve anyone else," I said, my mind racing with fear and uncertainty.

Felix sighed. "Alright, but I'm not letting you do this alone. We'll figure it out together."

Just as we were about to leave, Jennie appeared around the corner. "Hey, what's going on? You two look like you've seen a ghost."

"Jennie, it's bad. Someone has Jezz's parents," Felix said, not bothering to sugarcoat the situation.

Jennie's face went pale. "What? Are you serious? What are we going to do?"

"We're going to follow their instructions for now. But we need to be smart about this," Felix replied, his voice steady and reassuring.

Jezz's POV

We made our way to the school's back exit, hoping to avoid any more interruptions. My phone buzzed again. Another message from the kidnappers: "Go to the old warehouse on 5th Street. Come alone. Do not call the police."

"Great, they want me to walk into a potential death trap," I muttered.

Felix smirked darkly. "Well, if it's a trap, let's at least give them a surprise they won't forget. Got any dark jokes to lighten the mood?"

I forced a weak smile. "Why did the kidnapper bring a ladder to the crime scene? Because they wanted to take the hostage to a whole new level."

Felix chuckled. "That's the spirit. Now let's go save your parents and show these idiots they messed with the wrong people."

Jennie gave us both a look of concern. "Are you sure about this? What if it's too dangerous?"

Felix's expression turned serious. "Dangerous or not, we're not leaving Jezz to handle this alone. Let's go."

Jezz's POV

We arrived at the old warehouse, my heart racing with anxiety. The place looked like something straight out of a horror movie, with broken windows and an eerie silence that sent shivers down my spine.

Felix turned to me, his face determined. "Remember, stay close and don't let your guard down. We'll get through this."

We stepped inside, the dim light casting long shadows on the walls. As we moved further in, a voice echoed through the building.

"Welcome, Jezz. So nice of you to join us."

I swallowed hard, my mind racing with thoughts of my parents. "Where are they? What do you want?"

A figure emerged from the shadows, a sinister smile playing on their lips. "All in good time. But first, let's see if you're as brave as you think you are."

Felix stepped forward, his eyes locked on the figure. "If you touch her parents, you'll regret it."

The figure laughed darkly. "We'll see about that. Now, let the games begin."

Jezz's POV

The next few hours were a blur of tension and fear. We followed the kidnappers' instructions, navigating a series of traps and obstacles that seemed designed to test our resolve. Throughout it all, Felix stayed by my side, his presence a comforting anchor in the midst of chaos.

Finally, we reached a locked door. A voice crackled through a hidden speaker. "The key is in the room with your parents. But to get it, you'll have to face one final challenge."

I looked at Felix, my heart pounding. "What do we do?"

He squeezed my hand. "We go in, get the key, and get your parents out. Together."

As we entered the room, the sight of my parents tied up and terrified nearly broke me. But I couldn't afford to lose focus now. Felix and I worked quickly, overcoming the final challenge and freeing my parents.

As we made our way out of the warehouse, the relief was overwhelming. We had done it. We had beaten the kidnappers and saved my parents.

Jezz's POV

Back home, safe and sound, I finally let myself relax. Felix stayed with me, his presence a comforting reminder of everything we had been through.

"Thank you, Felix. I couldn't have done this without you," I said, my voice filled with gratitude.

He smiled, his eyes warm. "Anytime, Jezz. Anytime."

As I lay in bed that night, the events of the day replayed in my mind. It had been a dark and terrifying experience, but with Felix by my side, I knew I could face anything.
