Jezz's POV

I retreated to my bedroom, my mind racing. How could Hyunjin betray me like this? How could Felix think he could just walk back into our lives after all this time? I paced back and forth, trying to calm the storm of emotions inside me.

A few minutes later, I heard a soft knock on the door. "Jezz, can we talk?" It was Hyunjin.

"There's nothing to talk about," I snapped, but he opened the door anyway, stepping inside cautiously.

"Jezz, I'm sorry. I should have told you. But Felix was adamant about protecting you and our daughter. He thought it was the only way."

I glared at him, my anger barely contained. "And you agreed with him? You thought it was okay to keep this from me?"

"No," he admitted, his voice pained. "But I understood his reasons. He was trying to keep you both safe. And he never stopped loving you."

I felt my resolve weaken slightly, but the hurt was still too fresh. "He abandoned us, Hyunjin. He left me to raise our daughter alone."

Hyunjin stepped closer, his eyes pleading. "Felix never wanted to leave. It broke his heart. But he believed it was the only way to ensure your safety."

I sank onto the bed, tears streaming down my face. "I don't know if I can forgive him for that."

Hyunjin sat beside me, wrapping his arms around me. "Just hear him out, Jezz. Give him a chance to explain. For our daughter's sake."

I wiped my tears and took a deep breath, deciding to face the situation head-on. I walked back into the living room where Felix and our daughter were talking quietly. Felix looked up at me, his eyes filled with a mix of hope and fear.

"Why now, Felix? Why after all these years?" I asked, my voice steady despite the turmoil inside me.

Felix took a deep breath. "Because she's almost an adult now. I thought she deserved to know the truth. I wanted to be a part of her life, if she'll have me."

Our daughter looked at me, her eyes pleading. "Mom, I want to hear him out. I want to understand."

I nodded slowly. "Alright, Felix. Explain."

Felix's voice trembled as he began. "I left because I had to protect you both. The world I was involved in was dangerous. I couldn't risk your safety."

I felt a pang of sadness as he spoke, but my anger still simmered beneath the surface. "And you thought disappearing without a word was the best way to protect us?"

Felix looked down. "I thought it was the only way. I watched over you from a distance all these years. I never stopped loving you."
