"Happy" The Maine
somewhat of an Adalynn reference for you :)

She would take me to the surface? To see the grass, clear water, and trees? To feel the sun? I couldn't wait.

"Sterling, what the hell?" I guess I'll have to wait. As we turn, I recognize some faces. God, I cannot stand the short one. My eyes fall cold as my smile falters. I hear Rory sigh. She got caught.

"Hi cap'." Rory says, hesitantly waving to him. "Funny seeing you here..." She stepped forward, holding out her hand for him to shake. He didn't even look down.

She seemed like the type of person to be a people pleaser, and it wasn't working in her favor right now.

"Why doesn't she have restraints?" Levi's tone was demanding, and though he was obviously talking about me, he didn't even have the decency to look my way. "She's not supposed to be out."

Rory's fake smile faltered, and she sighed again. "Captain, I can take care of this. I know what I'm doing. She can stay in Shiganshina with me, until she makes up her mind about joining." Her voice was hushed now, but I could still make out what she said.

I didn't bother to speak, not now at least. There was nothing I could say to make my chances of seeing more of the outside any better right now. And that was my ultimate goal, the only thing I cared about at the moment. If Rory got in trouble, so be it. But I wanted to see what she promised. I guess I need her for that.

Levi's eyes narrowed slightly, and he shifted his weight to stand up straighter. "I don't think you understand what I'm saying, Sterling. Either get some restraints on her right now or get out of my face."

Rory opened her mouth to say something, but her attention was quickly stolen by a brunette woman running over. "I forgot some documents!" She almost ran past Rory, but paused when she saw Levi too. She halted abruptly, standing beside Rory and looking in between the two. "What's going on here?"

Rory nearly beamed when the woman arrived. "Hange," she sighed in relief. "Help me out here, please?"

The woman, who I figured was Hange, because - obviously, raised a brow. "What?"

"I want to take her to Shiganshina. We can stay in my family home," Rory began, and Hange nodded as she spoke. "Until she makes her mind up about joining the Scouts. She needs to heal, it'll be safer there. Doesn't that sound like a good idea?" Her tone shifted slightly from how she was speaking earlier, becoming softer as she spoke. I felt like a child. They gave me subtle glances as they talked about my placement in front of me like I didn't exist. Like my input simply wasn't important on the decision.

Hange considered for a moment. "It could be beneficial but it's a little more complicated than that..."

Levi spoke up again. "Neither of you will be able to convince me of anything. I said what I said." He put his foot down finally. "She's from the underground, we can't trust her."
