Colby was never late. Rebecca knew that because she worked the same hours as he did, and he was always on time. They had worked together for 2 years and she knew his schedule like a book, she knew he was never. Ever. EVER, late. Which could only mean one thing...he wasn't coming. It didn't shock Rebecca that he wasn't coming. He had seen how crazy their plan was. Her plan, which he had agreed to. Not that it mattered if he wasn't coming. She knew she was a lot to handle. And after their kiss they shared a few nights ago, she wouldn't be surprised if she scared him off.
Rebecca looked around her and heard the flights being called, hoping that maybe, just maybe he was late this one time. A wave of panic washed over her and she started fidgeting with her book that was in her lap.
She also felt a wave of betrayal wash over her. Everyone was right, Colby Lopez was the biggest douche in New York. He abandoned her when she needed him the most.
With a shaky breath Rebecca opened the book up and flipped through the pages before closing it again and opening up her phone. She then went to her contacts and found Colby's number. She clicked on it, then started tearing up before she shut her phone off. She then shook her head trying not to let the tears fall and pressed her palms to her eyes.
"Rebecca?" A deep voice she didn't expect to hear. She smiled and wiped her eyes. "Becks...?" Turning very slowly Rebecca looked up at Colby with a small smile. Colby tilted his head, "Hey, are you o-"
Before he could finish Rebecca landed on his chest. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he wrapped his around her waist, furrowing his eyebrows. "You came!"
Colby laughed and gave her a gentle squeeze before stepping back. "You didn't think I was coming?"
Rebecca sighed as she stared up into his big brown eyes. "Uhh..."
Colby chuckled as he handed her a coffee. "I was in the Starbucks line over there getting us a coffee."
I'm so stupid. Why am I like this? Rebecca smiled and took the coffee. "I'm sorry. I'm just stressed..."
Rebecca sat down while Colby sat down in the seat beside of her. "I just thought that you changed your mind and didn't want to come. Which is understandable because-"
Colby squeezed her hand. "Rebecca I'm here ok? I wouldn't do that to you."
The two then looked up when they heard their flight get called. "Now come on, let's go to Ireland." Colby said as he led the two towards their flight.
. . . . . . . . .
"And you said plane food was the nastiest thing in the world. Well this chocolate cake says otherwise pal." Rebecca said taking in the amazing dessert. "Do you think I could get another piece?" She hummed in pleasure.
Rebecca looked beside of her to the first class seats her and Colby were sitting in, because apparently they sit in first class now. Rebecca had ordered the plane tickets about a month ago, and she knew she hadn't orders first class seats, so she knew Colby had something to do with where they are sitting.
Colby lowered his phone and looked at her chuckling. "Pal? When did I become your pal?"
Rebecca shook her head. "Just let me enjoy my cake ok?" Colby laughed and returned to his phone. "Why did you get us first class by the way? I'm not complaining...I just want to know why."
Colby looked at her and shrugged. "Well I didn't pay for a ticket and I didn't want you to pay for me, so I canceled your tickets and I bought them instead. I just went ahead and got first class because we're going on a special trip ya know..."
Rebecca smiled as she took in his words. "Well that was very nice of you. Thank you."
When the lady came back with some more cake Rebecca eyes immediately lit up. She then looked up at Colby, "Would you be mad if I got another one?"
Colby shook his head smiling as he stopped the lady and got the cake. He handed it to Rebecca, "There ya go. Eat up."
Rebecca smiled and kissed his cheek, sitting back in her seat to make it not awkward. "Thank you!"
After she finished her cake Rebecca looked at Colby with her awkwardly smile. "Uhm...since we are on a long flight, can I ask you something?"
Colby shut his phone off and looked at her. "Sure..."
Rebecca fiddled with her fingers and looked down. Colby furrowed his eyebrows before reaching over and cupping her jaw with his hand. "You can ask me anything Becks..."
Rebecca then made eye contact with him. "I was wanting to talk about the kiss..." Colby nodded before she continued. "Did it change anything between us? Because I feel like we made it awkward between us, and I don't want it to be ya know?"
Colby smiled and leaned down kissing her forehead. "It's not awkward. It's just that, now that we've hung out, and I've got to know you...I really like being around you."
Rebecca smiled. "So you meant to kiss me...?"
Colby sighed before nodding. "Yeah. I guess after seeing you run in the rain made me realize how much I liked you."
Rebecca laughed while Colby chuckled before she rested her head on his shoulder. "I'm attractive that way I guess." Rebecca then closed her eyes with a big smile on her face.
After a long flight the duo finally made it to Ireland. Rebecca hadn't been in a few years so when she saw the country come into view she got all excited. When the plane had finally landed and they grabbed their belongings, they got a cab that was taking them to her house.
They each had 1 huge suitcase and extra bags, and they were struggling to fit them in the cab. Thankfully a bag fit in the front seat, so they didn't have to take separate cabs. Once they reached Rebecca's small little farmhouse, they got out. "I think I'm going to puke." Rebecca said shaking her head as they carried their bags inside. "I'm an idiot. This is never gonna work out. They're gonna know." She bent down and stuffed her hands in her hair. "I'm lying to my whole family Colby. It won't work out."
Colby bent down in front of her and grabbed her hands pulling her up. He then grabbed her chin and stared into her hazel, worried eyes. "Hey." She took a deep breath, shaking her head. "You're not an idiot Rebecca."
Colby then leaned down and pressed his lips to her forehead. "We've got this Becks." He said with confidence. "You're not on your own anymore. It's you and me now. We are in this together."
We are in this together. Rebecca repeated those words in her head. She then looked up at Colby and pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek. "We've got this." She repeated.
Rebecca was going to put her full trust in him because he said so. She just hoped for the both of their sakes he was right.
