Chapter 16: Final Hour

Model Z Komaru runs forward and slashes once at Omega, which he parries instantly, but they swings again, parried again. However, on the third swing, while Omega recovers, Model Z Komaru swings the Z-Saber twice, landing two hits.

Omega gets back to blocking, and takes two more brutal hits. However, he turns the tide of the fight forcing Model Z Komaru into a defensive stance, swinging twice before stabbing with the Triple Rod.

Despite this, Model Z Komaru swings the Z-Saber upward, knocking the O-Saber out of Omega's hand. It sticks itself into the ground, and Model Z Komaru runs at Omega, who moves to retrieve his weapon.

Model Z Komaru leaps into the air, Z-Saber at the ready, and Omega picks up the O-Saber and prepares to block.

As Model Z Komaru hits the ground, they slice right through the O-Saber, completely destroying it.

Meanwhile, Model X Toko backs Copy X behind Omega. Model Z Komaru and Model X Toko both charge their Busters, their shots combining, colliding with Copy X to completely destroy him.

Then, they pull off three charged shots on Omega, bringing him to his knees.

"Komaru! Finish him!" Model X Toko calls.

"Got it!" Model Z Komaru responds, walking forward and bringing out the Z-Saber. They swing once, across Omega's chest, for all those lost since the start of the riots.

A second swing across his stomach, for those still alive.

Finally, Model Z Komaru swings the Z-Saber in one final overhead arc, for hope to thrive, and conquer the overwhelming despair.

After the final swing connects, Omega falls to the ground, twiching and sparking.

"Guess that's it then... But mark my words, Zero. This isn't over... I... Will... Be..." Omega doesn't finish as he explodes, sending his parts flying all over the room.

The heroes then look over to Monaca, who's on her knees, completely shocked.

"You're kidding me... Monaca... Lost?"

"That's right. Now, be a good little girl and give up." Model X Toko advises.

"No... No... Is Monaca gonna be killed? I don't wanna die..." Monaca pleads, starting to cry.

"Look, there's no way we'd kill you!" Model Z Komaru says.

"But if you don't hand over that controller, it will *not* be pleasant." Model X Toko thretans, earning a glare from Model Z Komaru.

Monaca concedes and hands the controller over, giving it to Model Z Komaru.

"If I break this... The Monokumas will deactivate, right?" They asks.

'I don't see why it wouldn't.' Zero mentally assures Komaru.

"And then this uprising will be over..." Model X Toko sighs.

"But that was... It was kinda easy. Is it really okay?" Model Z Komaru asks.

"Hmph, ramen broth and climaxes should always be light." Model X Toko says. "Or would you like and ending that has us getting thrown from one despair to the next? I know your brother would."

"Yeah, but... It's really okay to break this?" Model Z Komaru asks again, glancing at the controller in their hand.

"It's obviously okay! You can stop the Monokumas and save everyone's lives!" Model X Toko reassures Model Z Komaru.

"...Right... It's just... Something's concerning me..."

"Concerning you?" Model X Toko and Monaca ask in sync.

"Concerning or disconcerting? Maybe you wanna be Monaca's ally at the last minute? So you're hes... hesi-"

"No need to hesitate, break that controller and finish this." Zero scoffs, separating from Komaru and returning to physical form, grabbing the controller from Komaru, and raising it above his head.

"Zero, wait!" X demands, splitting off from Toko. As he does so, Zero looks over and lowers the controller.

"So you listen to him and not us?" Toko asks.

"Pretty much." Zero responds. "You have concerns, don't you, X?"

"I do. The helmets the kids are wearing, they're brainwashing them. I'd assume some sort of security measures were put in place in case of this very event. Probably explosives."

"Awww!" Monaca groans. "You said it all! The whole thing!"

"X..." Zero trails. "How did you know that?"

"I guessed."

"Well, you just saved my ass from accidentally going Maverick. What next?"

"Phuhuhu, you choose!" Monaca reveals, smiling as if she were still at an advantage. "You can either choose to deactivate the Monokumas, and kill the kids, or let them live to slaughter the adults. Either way, one side will die by your hands. It's all down to you."

"No." Zero states, determination showing on his face. "I won't. If I can protect both sides, then you know I will."

"Hmmm." Monaca chuckles. "I thought you would say that, after all, it would be a big shame if the credits started rolling before all the cast was here! They're probably running down the hallway right now!"

"...Cast?" Komaru asks, looking to the group. Just then, Haiji flings open the doors, Nagisa close behind him.

"What are you two doing here? I thought you were inside Big Bang Monokuma, fighting the Monokumas." X questions, looking out the window in an attempt to find the jumbo Monokuma.

"Every single Monokuma in town rushed us all at once. Even Big Bang Monokuma couldn't handle them. So we came in here to look for the controller." Haiji explains, scowling at Monaca.

"Funny... Is that Shirokuma's advice?" Toko asks, suspicion in her voice.

"So what if it was? You need to listen to the adults outside, the screams..." Haiji trails, as the group listens outside.

They hear an aggressive chanting of "Destroy, destroy, destroy!"

"We've been watching all of this, the entire town has been. Monaca has been broadcasting everything to the adults below." Nagisa points out. "They've been waiting for you to destroy that controller and finish this."

"So... You're not going to stop me from making my own choices?" Zero asks.

"I won't. I cannot guaruntee about anyone else."

"Aww, Nagisa. You think you can influence any of this? Especially once I show everyone... This?" Monaca laughs, snapping her fingers.

From the other end of the room, two Monokuma Kids walk in, carrying a T.V screen, similar to the ones in the subway when Jataro called the group.

The screen turns on, and the group sees an execution room, the same one they had passed by earlier. The camera pans to another shot of a room, filled with bodies. But in the middle of the room, two people, a man and a woman, are seen hanging from the ceiling.

Zero is about to destroy the T.V screen, when he realizes a bloodstain on the woman's dress. He can faintly make out two words, and when he does. He finds himself strangely mortified.

Written in the woman's own blood, were two names, Komaru, and Makoto. 

The couple currently in front of the group was none other than Komaru and Makoto Naegi's parents.
