"NO FREAKING WAY," Leia yelled, before hastily sealing her lips and flashing her customers a broad smile and a hand wave. I'd just finished telling her about my run-in with you know who: she looked surprised but also delighted.
"So does this mean I can finally be a maid of honour ?" As she slurped on the milkshake she made me and her. "No," I replied, trying to sound as monotone as possible.
She could see right through me.
"I can see it in your eyes, tell me the truth," but then her one and only worker (whom I had just been introduced to) walked up to us, "You know we have customers right and you only have one worker. " he screeched."I NEED HELP!"
Leo had very light brown hair that almost looked golden in the Chicago sun, his voice was slightly more feminine for a man and he had a dark blue apron which had Leia's bakery name written on it.
"Not right now, Leo. I'm in the middle of a love story," she said, whisking him away with her hand movement.
"No love story," I grumbled. "Perhaps a murder story, but no love story."
"I can see the butterfly fluttering around in your stomach, and as a book girl, you know this is destiny," she grins nudging me on.
"This reminds me how much I miss you and our conversations," I said, genuinely realising how much I missed her physical presence in my life but also slyly trying to avoid her question. "I missed you too, but tell me now," she said as she cut to the chase.
"..... then he said the job is mine if I want it," I said, finishing up the story. I looked up and saw Leo had now sat down and was listening very intensely.
"Leo catch me if I fall" Leia breathed out fanning herself "I don't get paid enough for that" Leo replied shoving her off.
"So you're going to take the job, right?" Have sex, get married, have a kid, and die together, right? "She squealed and jumped up from her chair, "I'm going to be an aunty!" Her dark hair glistened in the sunshine as she leapt into the wooden chair.
I tried tugging her down but she was too far up the clouds to notice.Leia has always been this go getting we're all going to die one day so do you attitudes as it seems she is still the same girl I love. Leo had his phone out recording smiling behind the camera but he soon turned annoyed when she finished saying " free drinks for everyone!"
That takes us to now all of us standing behind the counter making the 100th coffee of the hour. I wiped my palms on my apron "how did I end up working here" I groaned my body slumped around the counter.
"Why do I actually work here?" Leo replied, frothing the milk, "It's because you love me." Leia answered, prancing around the kitchen collecting orders as if we weren't slaving away for her silly remark.
