Nyeesha Brooks
I woke up to an empty bed. Chance was not next to me. I slowly got up in search for the bathroom. His house was huge and I just started snooping looking for a bathroom. I finally found one, three doors down from his bedroom. I know there's a closer bathroom to his room than this I thought as I peed. I washed my hands and then made my way downstairs in search for Chance.
Once I made it to the living room, I seen Chance peacefully sleeping on his white plush couch. He was so cute. I grabbed my phone from my purse and snapped a picture. Since he was still sleep, I decided I'd go back upstairs until he woke up. On my way back up, I spotted a wash room and some fresh clean towels and washcloths. I grabbed a towel stripping out of my clothes and put the towel around my body. I put my clothes into the washer and made my way back to the bathroom.
I took a quick shower before going back to the washroom in my towel putting my clothes in the dryer.
"Ny?" I heard Chance call me.
"Yes!" I yelled back. "In the wash room!"
Soon after I heard footsteps approach the washroom.
"Good morning, how did you sleep?" Chance asked as he stared at me.
"Good morning and good, you?" I asked as I continued putting my clothes into the dryer.
"It was alright, my neck hurt. The couch ain't that comfortable," he chuckled as I laughed as well.
"I just needed to wash my clothes," I told him. "I hope you don't mind." I said as I pointed to the dryer my clothes were in changing the subject.
"I don't, I told you to make yourself at home and you surely did." He laughed. "Do you want breakfast?" He asked.
"Sure," I said as he walked away.
"Ayo Chano, who dis you got in yo crib bro?" I heard Taylor say about me.
"Hi, I'm Nyeesha." I extended my hand out for him to shake but he just mugged me.
"This is Taylor, my brother" Chance introduced me.
"This is Nyeesha, we were just kicking it." Chance said as he put his arm around my shoulders. "She cool, man." He said before dapping his brother up.
"Oh, ard." Taylor said as he engulfed me in a hug. "I'm sorry" he whispered in my ear causing me to laugh.
After breakfast, I'd decided that it was best that I went back home.
"Hey can you take me home?" I asked Chance as he finished cleaning the dishes.
"Yeah I'll just go grab my keys," he said as he disappeared in the hallway somewhere.
I put my shoes on and grabbed my purse.
"Ready?" Chance asked.
"Yeah," I said making sure I didn't leave anything. "Thanks for letting me spend a night with you," I said as I walked out of his front door in front of him.
"It was no problem, we should hang sometime again," he said as he unlocked his car doors.
"That'll be cool," I said as I got in the passenger seat.
The car ride was silent until I had to direct him to my dorm building.
"I really had a great time last night and today." I told him.
"I did too, here take my number." He said as he put his number in my phone. "I put Pat's number in there too just in case I'm busy, but call or text me if you ever need anything or if you want to hang," he said as I nodded. "I should be in Chicago for awhile." He said.
"Okay, talk to you later." I said before getting out of his car walking to my building.
Just as I was opening the door, Chance honked the horn. I turned around and he was waving to me. I waved back laughing to myself as I walked to my room.
I turned on my playlist once I got in my room. Chance's HeyMa played softly as I laid in my bed. Singing along to the song, I realized that I was beyond broke. I texted my manager to see if I could work this whole week coming up. I still needed to buy a dress and shoes, get my hair and make up done, and buy my class ring before graduation.
I already had my mind set on all of these things not happening. I'll probably be wearing the dress I wore when I graduated from high school and I'll be forced to stuff my natural hair under my cap. I'll be fine though.
My phone then started ringing. It was my mom.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hey what's up?" She asked.
"Nothing much," I responded.
"What are you doing today?" She asked.
"Nothing probably sleep," I replied.
"Do you have $30 I can borrow?" She asked.
"Do you not be listening when I say I don't have any money to spend?" I snapped.
"How much money do you have right now?"
"Nothing, I'm broke." I said.
"Yeah alright Nyeesha, don't ask me for shit. Fuck you," She said before she hung up.
I absolutely hate when people hang up on me. Now I'm homeless. I can't go 'home' after I graduate now all over thirty dollars that I don't have to give. Once again, I'll be fine though.
Placing my phone on it's charger, I laid on my bed letting the tears I've been holding in flow down my cheeks.
