Yelena's POV
Luna was asleep in the back of the car, while Natasha was driving and I was in the passenger seat.
"You know, this is the first piece of clothing I've ever bought for myself." I showed Natasha my new vest.
"That?" She took her eyes off the road for a second to look at my vest.
"Yeah, don't you like it?" I asked.
"It's like Uh," she chewed her gum "An army surplus or...?"
"Okay," I interrupted her "It has a lot of pockets."
Natasha laughed without taking her eyes off the road.
"I use them all the time and made some of my own modifications," I said.
"Oh,Yeah?" She laughed more at me.
"Whatever. Shut up. The point is, I've never had control over my own life before, and now I do," I defended myself "I want to do things."
"I like your vest" she said, smiling honestly.
"I knew it, I knew you did," I closed my eyes and clenched my fists "It's so cool, right?"
"It's good. Yes. I like it" she replied.
"And you can put so much stuff in there," I showed her some of the pockets "You wouldn't even know.
I checked that Luna was all right back there, sometimes she had nightmares and I had to wake her up as soon as possible. She was totally beautiful, her curly hair fell over her face. I had always thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.
"It's uncomfortable for me to watch you drool over her," Natasha commented to me, pretending to vomit "She cares so much about you, like, too much."
"I'm supposed to be the oldest, but she always made me feel protected," I told her "The funny thing is, everyone in the Red Room thought we hated each other."
"Why?" The redhead asked.
"We used to fight for the missions," I laughed wistfully "What they didn't know is that we did it to keep the other one from going."
"Why aren't you two together?"
"I don't know," I said honestly, watching her sleep "We were girlfriends before she was released by Oksana and when I was released I didn't know where that year-long separation left us."
I remember how it was Luna's last day in the Red Room, I was angry with her for winning the mission. It was a solo mission and I didn't want Luna to take risks alone without any backup.
2015, Red Room.
"Are you seriously going to be mad the last night before I leave?" Luna said sitting down next to me.
I looked at the wall without answering her, which made Luna move closer to me.
"Not even a goodbye kiss?" she tried to look at my face, but I was turning away.
Seeing that I didn't give in to any of her charms, she sighed in frustration, got up from my bed and walked to my door.
"I'll see you in three days," she said opening the door "Take care of yourself please Lena."
Before she left I stood up suddenly and grabbed her hand.
"I don't want you to leave," I finally said "I'm upset because you're going on a mission by yourself, without any backup, it's too dangerous."
"That's the reason I had to win," she said hugging me "I don't want you to be the one at risk."
"Stay to sleep" I said hiding my face in his neck.
"Yelena, "she made me look her in the eyes "You know if I stay here, we're not going to sleep."
"Then stay" I whispered to her.
Luna looked into my eyes for a moment before giving me a wet, hungry kiss. She took me by the waist and cornered me between the wall and her body.
"What do you want me to do to you love?" he said running his tongue along my neck and jaw.
"I want you," I whispered slowly and very close to his ear "All night, on top of me."
"Done."
After being awake all night, the next morning I said goodbye to my girlfriend not knowing that we wouldn't see each other again until a year later.
"You two should talk" Natasha suggested.
"As soon as everything is calmer."
The car was silent after the conversation about Luna.
"I really don't know where the Red Room is, though. I'm sorry" I said, breaking the tranquility.
"I know," she said, "But I think I know somebody who does."
"Oh yeah" I said "Who?"
"We're gonna need a jet" she commented.
——
"I said we needed a jet" Natasha said as we saw the piece of junk her friend brought.
"You know what you didn't given me," the man said walking down the scrap metal stairs "Time. Or money. I'm not made of jets."
"Uh," Luna denied slowly "Always money as a priority, greed!"
"I thought you were supposed to be the best," I commented disappointed "Like a real pro."
"Oh, I beg your pardon, tsarina." she became annoyed "Was the free flat and lifetime supply of kissel not to your liking?"
"Ah!" I laughed wryly.
"Kissel? On the flat?" Luna asked in confusion, "Wasn't anyone planning to tell me?"
"Don't let them wind you up" said Natasha to comfort him.
"No, I take exception to impugning my professionalism." he continued arguing.
"Well, you did set me up with a generator that crapped out after six hours" the redhead commented as she looked closely at "the jet"
"You too?" He pointed at her in pain "Tag team"
"Aw, he's sensitive," I continued to tease him "See why you keep him around."
I walked up to the front and fogged the glass with my breath. Luna didn't take long to follow me and do the same, we even traced hearts and silly drawings on the glass.
When the boy pulled out the rest of the equipment I immediately noticed a cereal bar in the duffel bag. I gave half of it to Luna.
"Oh, I stashed that, like, five years ago" Natasha warned me.
We ignored her and took a bite of our snack at the same time.
"How is it?" the avenger asked.
"Uh," I chewed awkwardly "It's dry."
"It's really dry" Luna confirmed.
We both climbed into the helicopter, seeing that it looked just as old on the inside.
Natasha threw the duffel bag down hard, and the boy closed it after the redhead got in.
"There are two more suits in the bag," Natasha informed us "I'm sure they'll fit."
