ONE MONTH LATER
Thanksgiving weekend

"You're officially fifteen, have you thought about your learners license?" I ask Jarvis as we walked onto the isle with all the boxes and canned foods.

"No, not really." She shrugged before her eyes lit up. I looked over to see that a can of pears had caught her eye before she grabbed them.

"Remember when mom used to make those things?" She asked and I nodded, immediately knowing what she was talking about.

"With the mayo and shredded cheese," I say, and she nodded. My mouth watered just thinking about it.

"We should get all the ingredients and make them for thanksgiving," I said and she smiled nodding her head.

"Just me and you, then we can surprise everyone with them," I smile hard seeing her happily grabbing two more cans.

I'm in such a good mood because it's thanksgiving weekend and thanksgiving is Friday which is only two days away while Nathaniel's grand opening is today.

He decided that he'd set it up for three this afternoon so while we waited on that. Me and Jarvis decided to go last minute thanksgiving shopping since my mom rented a air BNB somehow for this year's thanksgiving.

I was so happy for this thanksgiving because this would be the first time she's actually went out of her way for a holiday. --Any other time we'd be too poor to afford to rent a air bnb or travel out of state for a holiday, but I guess since she got a new job somewhere in a office that she began to see good pay.

She even moved her and my siblings into a nice house in the suburbs of Atlanta.

Although I'm happy about it, I'm kinda disappointed that all of that didn't happen before my childhood was over. I craved family time and experiences that would have stuck with me in a good way, but it was always a "one day" and fake lies when it came to my mom and candler.

But I'm okay with things changing while my siblings are still children.

Me and Jarvis collected the rest of what we needed off the isle before we walked over to the freezer isles so I could get some ice cream and stuff for Nathaniel's party.

He'd make sure to remind me every second of the day this past week that today was his grand opening.

He's been so happy about today. But the way I've been shopping for him and his party makes me feel like I'm a little more happier than him and it's not even my accomplishment.

"I'm also sorry for how nonchalant I was acting before you left for college," Jarvis said out of nowhere. I paused after placing a bag of miniature ice cream cups in the buggy.

"I didn't think you even remembered," I said in a lower tone, opening and grabbing a small bag of chocolate covered strawberries from the freezer over and placing them into the buggy as well.

"I only was that way towards you because you were leaving me and I was lost at the moment," She confessed and I paused to look over at her. Me and Jarvis are literally the same height so it was no looking down or up. We just simply looked at one another.

"Why were you lost?" I ask, genuinely wanting to know.

"I was struggling with school and there you were graduating with multiple scholarships..." She trailed off. I knitted my eyebrows as I was confused on where this was going, but sighed when I realized what she trying to say.

"You were--Jealous," She cut me off and we both nodded in sync.

"I didn't know you were going through that, Jarvis," I frown, just feeling bad that I never actually paid attention to my siblings.
