Hi my name is Jessica Shrike...i'm a magician. Normally when I tell people that they give me the awkward congratulations or side glances. No one ever really thought I would go anywhere in life as my father...well he was a well known magician. My father was Lionel Shrike...his final trick, he got into a safe handcuffed and tried to escape with the safe thrown into the river. He didn't come back up that night, me and my brother watched as everyone realized he drowned. My brother realized my father had drowned while I was too little to comprehend the fact of what death meant. I went to a relative's home that night, wondering why I was there and why my father wasn't there to tuck me in and read me a story. A month later the states deemed my relative unfit to care for me and my brother...they separated us into different adoptive homes and I havent heard from him since. I searched for him for so long, but nothing ever worked as my adoptive parents didn't want me to find him. They got checks to take care of me and they took them and bought their next big fix with it. When I was old enough to know they were getting the money I tried to demand that I had it so I could spend it on myself. They laughed in my face, they thought I was joking around. I never saw that money or heard of it after the incident.

When I turned 15 I had enough, I had been thinking of running away for months. I grabbed two duffel bags from under the bed and packed all my belongings into them. (I didn't have much seeing as I had no money to buy much) I made sure the locket with a picture of my brother and I was secured tightly around my throat before climbing out the window and disappearing into the night.

I was wondering around hopelessly the next day, I had no idea where I was or where my family were anymore. I sat on a bench in the middle of a park and sat there all day, just trying to think of what to do. That was until a girl that looked around my age came up to me, smiling fondly as if she already knew me all her life.

"Hello, are you alright, I've waked past the park a couple times today and you've been here all day?" She softly sat next to me as if she knew why I was there and didn't want to scare me. I don't know why I felt so connected to her having not even knowing her..so I spilled why I was there, how I had nowhere to go, how I had no money, and no idea where my family were.

Surprisingly she smiled brightly "My name is Henely, Henely Reeves, and you are welcome to stay with me and my parents. Only if you want too." I was a little hesitant to agreeing to stay with a complete stranger, but I had no other option up to that point so I agreed.

That night she took me home to her parents, explained the story, and smiled as they accepted me in and set up the guest bedroom for me to stay permanently. That night I just stayed up with the family. telling them about myself, my past, and repeatedly thanking them over and over again.

10 years later~~~~~

I'm 25 now and my and Henely have both pursued being magicians, me because I wanted to understand what my father loved so much to risk and give his life too. Henely just joined along for the ride. Henely and I were recently show girls for a "slight-of-hand" magician named Daniel Atlas..we both get involved with him, even though he didn't tell the other one. Henely and I found out and instantly ditched him and pursued our own careers together. Henely bounced around being a show girl as a side job for random magicians, while she mainly became a escape artist.

Me? I kind of became a little bit of everything. I did a little bit of slight of hand, escapology, illusionist, and i've been trying really hard to get into people's minds like my idol and kinda crush...Merrit Mckinney. I did random shows at parties, events, and sometimes just in the park under the Lionel Shrike tree. I never hid who I was from the public. Everyone knew whose daughter I was, I wish I could say I was known for my talents...but let alone I was only known for my father.

I thought my life was gonna stay the same old boring life until...
