With the violent storm raging outside their shelter, the two children nestled close together in a ball. Although occasionally raindrops fell from the edge of the branch, their conditions were much better than before.

Their bodies gradually recovered warmth and color reappeared on their faces.

Wei Jing patted Xu Jiahui's back in a comforting way and said, "Lay on me and sleep for a while. I'll call you when the rain stops."

"Ok." Xu Jiahui hummed.

He was only six, still a child. Last night's escape from death had consumed all his strength. He was so exhausted that his legs had long since gone weak, and he had been sustaining himself with only his last effort. Now that Wei Jing said something, his eyelids started to close.

Wei Jing adjusted his position, making the two of them even closer to each other. With only the layer of thin shirts between them, they could feel each other's warmth.

Wei Jing was exhausted himself. His constitution was probably not as robust as the naughty Xu Jiahui. He just had a mature heart, not the corresponding abilities. Not knowing how long had passed, Wei Jing only felt hot and dizzy.

He got a fever under these terrible conditions.

Feeling a greater warmth by his side, Xu Jiahui moved even closer to Wei Jing's body.

Wei Jing didn't know if he should laugh or cry. With the current temperature and the ongoing rain, if no one had come to rescue them by tomorrow, they would have to return to the kidnappers or else they would freeze to death in place due to insufficient warmth.

Now that he had a fever, he would just use his wet clothing as a method of physical cooling, now the heat is sufficient.

But...it couldn't last that long!

Unwilling to give up, he took out his phone. The tiny, half-palm sized black phone's screen was still dark, and it was completely totaled after the drenching of the rain.

Truly... "a leaking house caught in an overnight rain, and a broken ship caught in an unfavorable storm."

Misfortunes came one after another. On this chilly, dark night, Wei Jing opened his eyes wide. All of a sudden, it was as if he saw a vague, but horrifying, shadowed figure. It was tall, strong, had multiple holes in its head, and was staring right at him resentfully.

The child's already huddled body curled up even more, and in his head he said to himself – I'm not wrong, I'm not wrong, I'm not wrong...if I didn't kill him, we would have been dead. Those people are bad, they deserve to die...

It was as if the more he rejected the thought, the clearer that vague face got.

Since his past life, this was the first time Wei Jing had been so terrified.

Even his death happened in only a matter of seconds. It could be said that he didn't even react to the pain before he resurrected as his seven-year old self. Consequently, the time he died due to the car accident only seemed like a blurred dream to him. It didn't have much impact on his life.

But this time...at least five or six hours had passed since they were kidnapped. He didn't dare to relax his nerves for a single second, and he had exhausted all this strength during this escape, on top of his prior decisive jump from the tree. Wei Jing was extremely scared.

He wasn't a brave person from the start; he accompanied his big brother to a few outdoor trainings in his past life, but there were people taking care of him and they were only for fun.

Now, every time he calmed down, fear soon filled his insides again.

They were already far away, and it would be hard for those people to find them in the pouring rain, but...what if? If they were captured, they would definitely get hit, and then what would happen to them in the future?
