julia .
"jule! get up!" i heard my sister yell as she banged on my door.
i groaned and sat up as my sister walked in, "please get up, and get dressed. i need you at that poetry reading with me and simon!"
"why do i have to go?" i asked her.
"because simon is in love with you and i dont wanna go with just him." she explained.
"how many times do i have to say this, simon is—" she slammed the door shut, "in love with you. not me." i sighed and stood up.
i walked over to my closet and pulled out a pair of skinny black holy jeans, a black t, and a greyish black leather jacket with black boots.
i set everything on my bed, walking over to my bathroom as i fixed my hair up a little bit. leaving it down, wavy and curly, letting it rest on my shoulders. i walked back over to my bed as i began to change. pulling my shirt off and over my head, putting it in my dirty basket of clothes, along with my sweatpants. sliding my arms through the black shirt, my legs through the jeans, and my boots. i put my leather jacket over my shoulders, grabbing my phone as i put it in my back pocket, and walking out into my kitchen to see my sister on the phone, drawling.
i walked over to the fridge as i grabbed a cup, pouring myself a glass of orange juice.
i heard the door open as mom and luke came in.
"morning girls." luke said to us as he set down a bag of groceries on the counter.
"morning." clary said as she continued to speak to simon on the phone.
"hey, i'm glad y'all are up." mom said as she came in the kitchen with a huge board, probably just another painting she did.
clary set her phone down on the counter as she stood up, "ok, i'm going to go grab my jacket from my room and then we can leave." she said to me before walking off. i nodded my head in response, taking a gulp of my orange juice.
"where are y'all off to again?" luke asked.
"the poetry reading with simon, she's making me go with." i said as i placed my cup in the sink.
i watched mom pick up whatever it was my sister was drawling as she got closer to luke and they started whispering.
i rolled my eyes and pulled my phone out of my back pocket, "clary! we need to go!"
"neither of them are ready.."
"who's not ready for what?" i asked mom.
"nothing, baby, don't worry about it."
clary walked out finally as she pointed to the counter, "hey, did you take—"
"nope. i didn't see anything, you guys should get going." our mom dismissed the conversation quickly. "come straight home after the reading ok?"
"yeah, yeah, mom. we know, love you!" clary said walking out the door, i followed behind her.
we walked down the stairs of our small apartment, stepping outside into the cold and gloomy weather.
"god, it's freezing. do we have to walk?" i asked clary.
"would you stop complaining? it's a five minute walk."
"fine." i sighed as we walked in silence until we got to the small cafe that the poetry reading was being held.
we walked in and saw simon already sitting at a table with coffees.
clary and i walked over to him as we both sat down.
"good morning you two. i got y'all's regulars." simon said.
