you're one step away, julia.

"jule," clary said lightly as she shook me.

i hummed in response.

"jule, get up." she tried again.

"this better be a good reason." i groaned as i opened my eyes, sitting up and looking at her.

"i know where the mortal cup is." she smiled.

"what? how?" i asked her as i fixed myself to sit up a bit more.

"i'll explain later, but i need you to get up and get dressed. we need to go now." she said as she stood up. i nodded my head and got out of bed.

"i'll be in the plaza." she said as she left my room.

i walked over to my closet and threw on a random outfit, i slipped on the same pair of black ripped jeans from last night, a black skintight long sleeve that held my boobs to well, thanks isabelle, jaces same black leather jacket that he lended me, and combat boots.

after putting on those clothes, i put my hair in messy bun, strands of hair falling out. after i was done i grabbed my witchlight, the rock jace gave me last night, and put it in my jacket pocket. sliding on some gloves so i don't blister my hands, grabbed my butterfly knife and sliding it into a slouch that was attached to my jeans.

once i was finished, i walked out of my room and down the long set of stairs that led to the plaza, clary and jace were speaking, and isabelle and alec were off to the side speaking, they seemed to be arguing.

"hey." i said to my sister and jace.

"good morning." jace smiled at me.

"morning." i smiled back at him.

"am i missing something?" clary said as she looked at us with suspicion.

"that's a conversation for later," i quickly dismissed the conversation, i wasn't sure what jace and i were, so i didn't know if it was right to say anything just yet.

"are we ready?" jace asked looking at alec and isabelle.

"yeah, let's go." isabelle said as she walked over to us, alec following behind her.

jace nodded his head and opened the door as we all left.

"so where are we going?" i asked clary, she was leading the way.

"back home."

"back home?" i repeated in confusion.

"yes. last night i was in the library reading more about shadowhunters and just this world in general, drinking a cup of coffee, as one would, and the next thing i knew, the cup was in my notebook." she explained as we all continued to walk down the sidewalks of new york.

"how the hell did that happen?" isabelle questioned.

"i have no idea, i literally set it down for a second. then when i tried to reach for it, it was in my notebook. it confused the hell out of me. then i had the crazy idea to stick my hand instead the paper of my notebook, to which i grabbed my cup and pulled it back out. crazy right? according to hodge, mom was the only person who had the ability to that. and then i thought about it again, remember when we were at dorothea's?"

i nodded my head.

"and how she was reading to us about our past and who we actually are? one of those cards had the mortal cup painted on it, but it actually isn't painted. the cup is literally in the card. that's where mom hid the cup." clary finished explaining.

"no fucking way.." it all clicked in my head too. it made so much sense.

we turned the corner as we we're basically outside our apartment building. but before we could reach it, our mailman stopped in front of us.
