i got out of the taxi that i was in and stood in front of jocelyn, luke, clary, and i's apartment.
i started walking closer to it as i walked into the main door, everything that happened at dorothea's, all the wreckage was still around. this place was trashed. i started going up the stairs to our apartment. walking into it. the place was also still recked.
i pulled out the stele that clary had lended me before parting, it was isabelle's stele. a bright red stele, i didn't know they came with different colors.
even though i spent most of my time at the institute with jace and in my room, i still learned a couple of the runes.
i held the stele over the back of my hand as i drew out one of the runes, a cleaning rune as simon called it.
i hissed in a bit of pain as i finished drawing it out, i then held out my hand as everything went back to how it originally looked. the paintings and photographs that hung on the wall went back up, the tables and the chairs going back up against the wall, broken plates and glasses formed again and were placed back in the cabinets, and the couch was placed back onto the wall along with the tv. i went into each room fixing every little thing i could.
once i was done, i looked at the tune that was now permanently placed on the back of my hand.
"i like what you've done with the place." a sharp british accent said, jace.
i looked over at him as he leaned against the doorframe.
"i've got a few tricks up my sleeve." i smiled softly and looked down.
"julia, we're afraid you and clary aren't coming back. we all want you and clary to stay there." jace said softly as he walked closer to me.
"it's just really hard to be around you right now." i said as i kept my eyes on the ground.
"it's hard for me as well." jace replied as he stopped inches away from me, "but this is about more than us. you and clary have an incredible grift. we need you both." he paused, i then looked up at jace, he still had a slight look of hurt on his face.
"i need you." he finished as he grinned softly.
"i just don't know.."
"remember when i said i'd never seen an angel?" he asked me.
i nodded my head.
"well, i lied."
i couldn't help but smile.
jace backed away from me as he stopped at the door, "you're still the bravest mundane i've ever met." he then walked out.
"i'm not a mundane." i mumbled.
i then ran out of the apartment and down the stairs, walking outside. i saw jace leaning against his motorcycle.
he turned his head slightly, "you took your time."
i went down the small set of stairs and walked over to him, "you said you needed me." jace then let out a small chuckle. he swung his leg over the bike and sat down, i did the same.
"is it ok if i um.." i paused and held up my arms.
"yeah." jace said as he grabbed my wrists and wrapped them around his waist.
"julia, i don't believe it. it doesn't feel like the truth, not in my heart."
"i don't believe it either." i said as i placed my head on his back, "i just don't know how to look at the world anymore. i don't see streets and traffic lights and cars. i see demons and angels. everything's different."
"the worlds the same." jace said as he turned his head to look at me. "you're the one who's different." he then kissed my forehead gently and turned back around as he started up his motorcycle.
"hold on tight." he said before we started to ride off. i held my grip on him.
from here on out, i am a shadowhunter.
