There was no time to move Crown Princess Lian Yu to the labor room of the Peach Palace, and was to instead carry out the birth on her bed. Midwives quickly entered as the royal groaned in pain. It was unbearable.
Also arriving, was Crown Prince Xin Hua. Word of her labor spread fast, and the moment he heard it, he ran. At the door of her chambers, he reached to open it but was stopped by an approaching assistant. "Your Highness," the woman called as she bowed.
"I'm sorry but I should be with her." he insisted.
"I'm sorry, Your Highness but this is not your battle." denying his entrance. "Her Highness must concentrate on safely delivering the child and nothing else."
Although adamant, Xin Hua nodded with a frown. Watching as the woman stepped inside, he tried to catch a glimpse of his wife through the opened doors. Seeing her, Lian Yu held discomfort and her stray hairs were soaked with sweat. The doors now shut, the Crown Prince bit the inside of his lip as he proceeded to walked back and forth, waiting.
Time passing, it was already nearing nightfall from the time it initially began, which was late morning. Crown Princess Lian Yu was worn from the constant pushing and wanted it to end already. However, with the child not out yet, there was no time to rest.
"Your Highness, please push harder. I can see the child's head!" the midwife shouted.
An anguished scream as Lian Yu did all she could to push, the child was finally born. Her body felt immediate relief besides the pain and fatigue that lingered of course. Laying down with heavy breaths and dazed eyes as she watched the workers clean her crying newborn, Crown Prince Xin Hua suddenly entered without a thought upon hearing those cries. Slowly, he approached the bed and the midwife turning with the child in her arms, he felt ecstatic.
"Your Highness, the child is a prince...... The Grand Prince." she said as she handed him the infant.
Taking his son in his arms, Xin Hua didn't know how to feel at first. As seconds passed, laughter came and soon tears as he brought his face close to his child's. Coming to Lian Yu, he spoke. "Yu," a sniffle. "He's here. Our child is here."
But looking at his wife, those eyes of hers were not open. This brought panic as he called for the midwife. "Come here immediately!" he shouted. "My wife, she isn't awake."
Running to the woman's side, the workers who had been wiping her down, quickly finished doing so as they helped to check her pulse and shook her. And with so much contact, the Crown Princess awakened with drowsy eyes and looked around. Seeing her eyes open, gave a sigh of relief to the workers and especially the Crown Prince.
"It is likely that Her Highness passed out due to the long labor." informing him. "I shall now get going, and I will also be sure to notify Royal Physician Ping so that he can gather the herbs necessary for your recovery."
"Thank you," spoke Lian Yu in a groggily voice.
A bow, the woman left and so did the others leaving just the two in the room.
"May I hold him?" Lian Yu asked her husband.
Xin Hua came to sit by her side on the bed. "Of course," he said as he handed her their child.
Pushing herself to sit up, the woman rested her back against the headboard and took the newborn into her arms. Once her eyes met the child's face, tears of joy formed and leaning down she kissed him on the head as she brought him closer. While she did this, her husband took a towel to wipe the sweat that remained on her face.
"You did great," he told her. "The two of you are safe."
Loosening the top of her robe, Lian Yu then brought their son to suckle on her teat. Xin Hua simply chuckled at the sight of this.
"What name do you think would suit him best?" he asked his wife.
Hearing his question, Lian Yu fell into thought and searched through the names that the two had come up with previously. ".......Shiying....I believe this name suits him."
His arm coming around Lian Yu, he agreed. "I thought the same as well."
A quiet moment, the Crown Prince brought his family closer to him and kissed his Crown Princess on the forehead. "He's so beautiful, just like you."
